Radio Isn't Complete Shit.
...well at least about 20% of mainstream music isn't. My Top 10 reasons to turn on the radio. If for only a moment.
Red is the Christian Rise Against. They produce albums that meet critical acclaim with each output, they choose the same message, and each album sounds about the same. That's not a bad thing. They know how to make a certain type of music and they do it damn well.
Every teenage girls favorite band. Normally that is a knock towards a band, but not in this case. Mayday Parade is a pop punk band that is very good, musically as well as mainstream.
|8||The Dangerous Summer |
The Dangerous Summer is a band on the rise and possibly the best new pop punk/Alt Rock band in the U.S. right now. I know this is probably the least mainstream band on this list, but the music they produce is very radio friendly.
Rise Against is on the same lonely path that RHCP is on. They're message is getting repetitive to the extreme, yet they still manage to create music that is listenable to say the least.
Eminem is a tough case. His releases of recent have been utter shit. His days of The Marshall Mathers LP and The Slim Shady LP are long gone. Why is he on this list? He wasn't going to be, but his recent release under the name of "Bad Meets Evil" is the best thing to have his name stamped on a cover in a long time.
|5||Red Hot Chili Peppers|
Yes, RHCP is very much on the road of decline, but that decline is still a hell of a lot better than most bands on the radio right now.
An ever changing band, Underoath burst into the mainstream with album "They're Only Chasing Safety" and though they have dropped off from mainstream in recent years, they gotten progressively better.
Deftones continue to put out albums that are successful mainstream and very successful to critics; something rarely seen.
The "Pioneers of reggae/punk". Though they are not the same band as they were in the 90's, Sublime is still very much alive thanks to the recent addition of front man Rome.
Kanye West my have created the best mainstream album seen in the past decade. That is reason enough to have him as my number one.

= list is invalid.

Of course the radio isn't complete shit. Why would anyone think that it is?
dumb list but i was pondering this question today as i was listening to fm radio. it was the classic rock station and after fifteen minutes of guns n roses and commercials i was getting pissed but then a talking heads song came on and restored my faith in humanity
I never heard underoath on the radio before, somtimes I'll hear the almost but not underoath
The only one I've ever heard on local radio stations is 1.
Brand New used to be on the radio all the time around here
I wonder what psykonaut's question was
I've heard Too Bright To See, Too Loud To Hear on the radio before.
Well my local radio's must just suck. Stupid England.
Whatt. I've never heard Brand New on the local radio before.
yeah, radio friendly Metallica is probably the best!
Yeah I've heard Death Cab for Cutie, Anberlin, Third Eye Blind, Foo Fighters too. They're all good
if ya listen to non-commercial radio you can catch a bunch of good stuff. every large town should have one. sometimes they play stupid shit like democracy now, bbc radio, al jazeera radio, etc. and that sucks but most of the time it's music.
What do I need the radio for I have internet
You forgot Alter Bridge, Chevelle, Shinedown and Breaking Benjamin. Are those enough to make 30% good?
