08.31.11 | Cheesiest list ever I know...but I still like these classic tracks |
JamieTwort
08.31.11 | Good list, although I've never classed Guns N' Roses as Hair Metal.
I would have also included:
Ratt - Round and Round
Warrant - Uncle Tom's Cabin
Steelheart - Love Ain't Easy
Hurricane - Reign of Love
Tesla - Modern Day Cowboy
Firehouse - Rock on the Radio |
JamieTwort
08.31.11 | Also:

TheNotrap
08.31.11 | Thanks JT
"I've never classed Guns N' Roses as Hair Metal"
yep I know, bands like Van Halen, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Saxon or Guns N' Roses aren't typical hair metal but I decided to include them.
yeahh some cool stuff, specially Tesla (also not a typical hair metal band) |
TheNotrap
08.31.11 | "I'd replace Living on a Prayer with Raise Your Hands"
Cool song sure but my second fav Bon Jovi track is You Give Love a Bad Name
|
jayfatha
08.31.11 | SHOT THROUGH THE HEART
AND YOU'RE TO BLAME
I was actually trying to decide if I liked that more than Raise Your Hands when I posted the comment. |
TheNotrap
08.31.11 | SHOT THROUGH THE HEART
AND YOU'RE TO BLAME
YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME
Classic stuff dude

omnipanzer
08.31.11 | I like that you included "Eat Em And Smile". His solo stuff is all but forgotten. I really liked his first two albums personally. I'm not a hair metal fan but I have no problems with this list other than including non hair metal but you've already addressed that and it really is a fine line. |
JamieTwort
08.31.11 | I'M TALKING 'BOUT THE YANKEE ROSE! |
TheNotrap
08.31.11 | yeahh his first 2 records are very cool.

08.31.11 | I thought Skyscrapper had a lot more depth than I ever thought him capable of tbh. Album just really has a great soundscape If memory serves. I haven't listened to it in years... since I packed up my CD's truth be told. Have you ever listened to it JT? |
JamieTwort
08.31.11 | I've heard some songs from Skyscraper but not the whole album I need to get it. Eat 'Em and Smile is a great album. |
TheNotrap
08.31.11 | Diamond Dave is among the greatest all-time rock entertainers IMO |
omnipanzer
08.31.11 | As a whole his lyrics can be pretty weak but he is/was a great entertainer. JT I rec you Skyscraper... the whole thing. Hopefully my memory doesn't let you down. ;^) |
TheNotrap
08.31.11 | Just Like Paradise is the best Skyscraper song IMO.
Very cool record.
A Little Ain't Enough and Your Filthy Little Mouth aren't so good. |
BigHans

08.31.11 | To be honest I don't know Ratt enough to have a solid opinion. The only album I had on tape was Out of the Cellar and I don't remember much...
What's their best record? |
JamieTwort
08.31.11 | Out of the Cellar is thier best IMO followed by Invasion of Your Privacy. |
TheNotrap
08.31.11 | Quiet Riot's Metal Health have also cool songs like Cum on Feel the Noize. But I don't know if we can call these guys Hair Metal... |
BigHans
08.31.11 | Out of the Cellar is easily Ratt's best album.
I would say Quiet Riot definitely fall under the Hair Metal distinction. Maybe not for their appearance, but definitely the sound. I tend to lump the genre based on sound rather than did they actually wear makeup. |
BigHans
08.31.11 | and Notrap, download Ratt - Ratt & Roll 8191. Its a greatest hits album that owns hard |
TheNotrap
08.31.11 | Thanks Hans I'll definitely check it out |

I'm curious |
BigHans
08.31.11 | Saxon's Wheels of Steel is like the best riff ever |
Jethro42
08.31.11 | I don't have any, Notrap. I grew up around that genre quite a bit (friends)...but my favorite metal genre remains prog metal. |
omnipanzer
08.31.11 | Whoa, this list esploded. |
DominionMM1
08.31.11 | Because it's a list that older sputnikers can enjoy. |

Jethro42

TheNotrap
08.31.11 | "Saxon's Wheels of Steel is like the best riff ever"
definitely m/
But I believe their first records aren't Hair Metal. Classic old school NWOBHM m/
By the way Hans If you don't know Destiny check it out. An extreme underrated record IMO. Almost all songs here are 5/5 or 4/5.

08.31.11 | Wayne Campbell: So, do you come to Milwaukee often?
Alice Cooper: Well, I'm a regular visitor here, but Milwaukee has certainly had its share of visitors. The French missionaries and explorers were coming here as early as the late 1600's to trade with the Native Americans.
Pete: In fact, isn't "Milwaukee" an Indian name?
Alice Cooper: Yes, Pete, it is. Actually , it's pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" which is Algonquin for "the good land."
Wayne Campbell: I was not aware of that. |

Now I've got 2 young kids and I'm trying to teach them all about good music

Hell of a list, mine was similar but not a mirror image. Replace Sabbath with Traffic and Kraftwork with Van Morrison and you get the picture. (The Police, Gentle Giant, Emerson, Lake & Palmer these were all dead on). |

08.31.11 | ''I think most people in this thread are aware that English is not your native language. It was good natured ribbing and more of a knock against them than you I promise.''
I know. As of the language matter, I tend to justify myself when I have hard times to express my thoughts properly in the language of Shakespeare. But you're right; I shouldn't worry too much now that every sputniker I interact with are aware about my 1st language. |

TheNotrap
08.31.11 | Armageddon was let's say a 70's Hard Prog supergroup. They only made the self-titled album. I really love Buzzard (the song you heard). The other songs have lots of prog elements that I believe you will like. When you have some time free listen to the entire record. |
