01.23.12 | No Particular order the 10 ten are all sick imo and so is every single album on this list. I left alot of obvious greats ones out on purpose. |
artificialbox
01.23.12 | 21 is the best metalcore album of all time. |
wacknizzle
01.23.12 | I kinda just threw that one on there it's not really metalcore that why i didn't put it on the top ten besides alot on here is equally sick to me |
AfterTheBreakdown
01.23.12 | awesome list man. I'm gonna check out the ones i don't know for sure. |
wacknizzle
01.23.12 | Thanks, thats a good plan man. |
artificialbox
01.23.12 | Aha yeah, good list nonetheless. I've been listening to 50 lately because they have the drummer from on of my favourite bands The Chemist Vs. The Computer (R.I.P), definitely an interesting album. |
accompliceofmydeath
01.23.12 | A lot of these aren't even metalcore, but still plenty of good stuff on here. Better than most metalcore lists. |
keyboardxmosh
01.23.12 | So much greatness on this list, hi5 bro. |
wacknizzle
01.23.12 | #2 is criminally underrated. |
SpiritCrusher2
01.23.12 | top 10 are awesome
and yes, JD is #1 |
eternium
01.23.12 | Yep. |
Devastator
01.23.12 | Awesome list, though I detect a lack of 7 angels 7 plagues |
IAmHollywood
01.23.12 | LOOK IM POSTING GOOD TO AVERAGE ALBUMS EVERYBODY KNOWS ABOUT WITHOUT SOMETHING OFF TOPIC IN THE DESCRIPTION DISCUSS IT SOMEHOW |
NeutralThunder12
01.23.12 | great to see until your heart stops on here. also great to see the silent circus and controller. |
MMX
01.23.12 | I see Gaza and Ed Gein, but the lack of Cave In disappoints me |
keyboardxmosh
01.23.12 | Guy with a He Is Legend username calling the albums on this list average. ioi |
Scoot
01.23.12 | props for 49 |
Shuyin
01.23.12 | another metalcore list |
DallyLama
01.23.12 | .......wheres dillinger..... |
Shuyin
01.23.12 | dillinger is mathcore.. |
DallyLama
01.23.12 | thats what i think shuyin!! but EVERYONE and their mom thinks otherwise and everyone who likes these bands usually like dillinger, hence why i am surprised... |
keyboardxmosh
01.23.12 | "Mathcore" is just technical metalcore with a lot of tempo changes.
It's still the same type of music. |
Shuyin
01.23.12 | yea, i just had a big discussion with a guy on last.fm because he told me: 'mathcore is metalcore' in the end he admited he was wrong. but hey..
melodic death metal is death metal with melodic elements... (a simple point) |
bringonthebreakdown
01.23.12 | i feel like mathcore is a fictional genre |
Shuyin
01.23.12 | because everyone keeps saying that bands like dillinger or converge are metalcore |
DallyLama
01.24.12 | how is mathcore "fictional"
elaborate sir |
bakkermaarten007
01.24.12 | 45 is just DSHS. And is not metalcore at all. |
bakkermaarten007
01.24.12 | "i feel like mathcore is a fictional genre"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FJI8gHsI1k&list=FL7BLHYMJkXaVTDhlzak8tJA&index=132&feature=plpp_video
Proven you wrong. |
keyboardxmosh
01.24.12 | "because everyone keeps saying that bands like dillinger or converge are metalcore"
they are metalcore |
keyboardxmosh
01.24.12 | like... those are bands that are credited with revolutionizing the style, what are you 15? |
wacknizzle
01.24.12 | I just didn't feel like dillinger needed to be on here, besides their still around and everyone knows calculating is sick. |
Emim
01.24.12 | "yea, i just had a big discussion with a guy on last.fm because he told me: 'mathcore is metalcore' in the end he admited he was wrong. but hey.."
because someone admitting they're wrong automatically makes you right? |
Emim
01.24.12 | also, some good albums, some bad albums and some albums that simply aren't metalcore.
and wrong spitfire too. that's probably their weakest |
Shuyin
01.24.12 | 'because someone admitting they're wrong automatically makes you right?'
no, i just sayd he admited i was right and he was wrong. but ive had enough of this metalcore/mathcore discussion. |
bringonthebreakdown
01.24.12 | "how is mathcore "fictional"
elaborate sir"
because all of the bands that are labelled mathcore just fall under other genres |
wacknizzle
01.24.12 | Mathcore is a part of metalcore. All the orignal metalcore bands botch, converge, dillinger, coalesce all had math elements. Most bands who say they are mathcore just sound like dillinger except for into the moat and a few others. It's a part of metalcore. Tell me any good metalcore band who doesn't have math elements. |
keyboardxmosh
01.24.12 | Starkweather, Overcast, Indecision, and Integrity don't have "math" elements, and they're older than most of those bands aside from Converge. |
dixoncocks
01.24.12 | http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=rT5spjCLwpg
kevinbaconcore |
keyboardxmosh
01.24.12 | And Converge credit the more spastic progression of their sound to discovering and playing shows with Rorschach. |
keyboardxmosh
01.24.12 | Why wouldn't you call Dillinger or Botch original? |
wacknizzle
01.24.12 | Botch and Dillinger both took ideas from other things but made it their own. Botch used to play Helmet and Rage Against The Machine covers and were influenced by the straight edge hardcore bands they played with but they became their own entity. Dillinger is really original man, calculating infinity came out in 1999 and there was nothing then that sounded anything like it. |
wacknizzle
01.24.12 | None of those bands would have existed with rorschach and other hardcore and straight edge bands but they took things to an entirely new level. I mean they sound awesome and thats the point, they wanted to experiment. Dave Knudson did tons of crazy shit running his guitar through a kaoss pad, there we're one of the first bands to do that. |
keyboardxmosh
01.24.12 | I mean like, KNUT and Deadguy kind of had similar things to Botch going on, but all three bands are
pretty different. I guess you could say the same with Dillinger and As The Sun Sets and Creation Is
Crucifixion, but still, even the most similar bands have completely different things going on, it's
really unfair to say that two of the higher regarded bands are unoriginal just because they had their
own take on an evolving style. |
bringonthebreakdown
01.24.12 | i just think that "having weird time signatures occasionally" doesn't make a genre of music thats retarded |
bringonthebreakdown
01.24.12 | i still think the genre "math anything" is stupid. it's like.... since when did having one element of music theory suddenly make a genre of music. like... you don't call bands that play in c major C MAJOR ROCK or bands that use codas CODA ROCK
|
wacknizzle
01.24.12 | ^good point, thats why djent as a genre is fucking stupid. Imagine if there were that many mathcore bands. It would piss me the fuck off. I like that indie rock never got that way. Like if there we're a bunch of rip offs of minus the bear, or the shins it would piss me the fuck off. I don't mind a few bands that play a few djent riffs but 10,000, come'on go find different shit to play. |
wacknizzle
01.24.12 | It happened in metalcore when bands were ripping off of norma jean who were stealing form botch. Thats where we got the generic chug from today, although it's more djenty now so it grooves harder makes the booty groove in between the shitty chorus and the not as hard breakdown that is the verse. |
Pawpnbawtlez
01.24.12 | i really dont think the blood brothers and the number 12 looks like u are considered metalcore. I COULD be wrong.
|
wacknizzle
01.24.12 | Well number twelve are definitely centered around metallic hardcore but they incorporate elements from post-hardcore, indie, grind, jazz, and avant-garde. It's avant-garde metallic hardcore. As of right now i'm sick of using THAT word. Blood Brothers have elements from it but they're really just experimental punk with hardcore elements. Subgenres are dumb, any good band is it's own subgenre. |
bringonthebreakdown
01.24.12 | nah i completely agree with you about djent being a stupid genre |
Spec
01.24.12 | fuck yeah 7
also djent isn't a genre, we've been through this |
bringonthebreakdown
01.24.12 | what spec said |
Spec
01.24.12 | Actually a pretty good looking list. You should do another one with some descriptions so I know which ones to check out! I'm having a music crisis lately. |
bringonthebreakdown
01.24.12 | almost all of these rule tbh |
wacknizzle
01.24.12 | it might not be a genre but there are 1000 bands who are doing the same riffs. I don't know what that means but it's fucking stupid. I guess it means anyone can play guitar and most aren't original and just steal off other people, I guess it's easy to seem good at writing djent or thall. Just buy a 7 or 8 string then play along to catch thirty three and you'll get it. |
wacknizzle
01.24.12 | if you want some recs spec ill hook you up. |
Brumas
01.24.12 | If all the artwork was there this list would look so sexy. |
Emim
01.24.12 | "any good band is it's own subgenre. "
yikes |
Spec
01.24.12 | Hooks me up wit dem junz. |
wacknizzle
01.24.12 | All the artwork should be on here now, i fixed it. Will do spec. |
ChuckyTruant
01.25.12 | I have Disambiguation and however I like it, it just doesn't grab me for some reason. Sounds too dreary or something. Not quite sure... |
Zorak
01.25.12 | pretty good list. better than the tons of other ones that have been made lately. |
wacknizzle
01.25.12 | Hey guys Exotic Animal Petting Zoo have a new song up form their upcoming album on April 12.

Amazing you put an LA band at Shaq's number. |
wacknizzle
01.26.12 | hahaha thats awesome and yes that band is sick, it's one of my favorite albums on here. |
Wheelah
01.26.12 | I will have to check a lot of these out. Disappointed by lack of Deadguy, though. |
Sound
01.26.12 | props for 49 [2] |
wacknizzle
01.26.12 | I never heard of reflux till like a week ago, luckily it turned to be sick. It's tosin abasi just without the djent. |
Sound
01.26.12 | Same here. Heard it two weeks ago. For some reason I went into it with lower expectations (prob cos metalcore isn't my fav kind of music) but it ruled. I don't think there's much 'djent' about Tosin Abasi except some occassional metal riffs of his in AaL. |
keyboardxmosh
01.26.12 | "hahaha thats awesome and yes that band is sick, it's one of my favorite albums on here."
So weak they never caught on. |
wacknizzle
01.26.12 | yeah i only found out about them because their breaking up was news on sputnik(awesome it got approved). They basically said they were breaking up because the scene was gay and they hated all their scenester fans lol i just don't know what the article isn't on here anymore. |
keyboardxmosh
01.26.12 | Yeah it's weak, they were more unique than any other deathcore band ever. |
KILL
01.26.12 | 1>jane doe |
wacknizzle
01.26.12 | it is pretty sweet, i listen to it more than jane doe but i've been more into jane doe lately and i've been listening to american nervoso alot. |
wacknizzle
01.26.12 | I remember they had We Are The Romans at fye in like 04' and i heard a few botch songs but never got to hear that album and it was gone before i ever got to buy it. It breaks my heart, i shoulda got to hear it then i love being able to buy a cd that i fall in love with, it makes the listening experience mean so much more, it's like having magic thats available whenever you want it and it makes the love for an album live with you forever, it becomes a part of you. I wanted that love with We Are The Romans. I may not feel much for it now but i loved colors, it defined a great period in my life where anything felt possible. |
KILL
01.26.12 | lol sweet bro |

01.27.12 | http://www.box.com/s/sestlp6od0ld5fkismmm
Best new metalcore band obvi. |
wacknizzle
01.27.12 | ^lol there was like no bass in that song at all, it wasn't the worst thing ever. |
wacknizzle
01.27.12 | is it your band mosh? either way it wasn't that bad. |
keyboardxmosh
01.27.12 | yeah i do vox
the lack of bass isn't a big deal cause it's a scratch track, we're going into the studio next friday |
AlexanDerp
01.27.12 | Nice list, although I find it odd that there is no Shai Hulud. |
Scoot
01.27.12 | yea it needs ill tempered |
keyboardxmosh
01.27.12 | I really like Hearts Once Nourished... so much more. |
wacknizzle
01.27.12 | good luck with recording mosh, let me know when u put it up cuz i'd really like to hear it. |
wacknizzle
01.27.12 | i've only heard shai hulud a couple times and i didn't think it was my thing. ill give it another chance |
keyboardxmosh
01.27.12 | Thanks wack, I appresh it. This Or The Apocalypse's drummer is recording us. :) |
wacknizzle
01.28.12 | Thats awesome i bet it will sound sick, just don't overproduce it but based on the sound i can tell you won't let that happen, just don't settle make sure your happy with the way each song turns out. I wrote some great songs back in the day but they never got to be recorded but they will live on tabit forever. I still think the songs i wrote we're groundbreaking, if the band could have done the songs justice we woulda been sick, i just never had a band that was good enough. |
Evreaia
01.28.12 | WTF is Amarna Reign doing on this list.. |
AfterTheBreakdown
01.28.12 | they suck. |
keyboardxmosh
01.28.12 | Well I don't really feel like TOTA or TIJ's production is overdone, so I'm pretty excited for how this'll turn out. I know their guitar sound is exactly what our guitarists want, and I think it'll sound great with the style we play. |
wacknizzle
01.28.12 | Amarna Reign, uhh i really like atonement. i'm sorry if you don't and i know it doesn't really fit in on this list. |
keyboardxmosh
01.28.12 | What are they like? You're one of the few people on here who's opinion I trust. |
wacknizzle
01.28.12 | really catchy and well structured metalcore with awesome clean singing. lyrics are pretty good, you either love or hate them.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPpnRdwS9l0 |
keyboardxmosh
01.28.12 | I can't really get into the synth, but otherwise this is really solid. |
wacknizzle
01.28.12 | yeah it's definitely worth checking out, theres a bit of electronics but thats the only song with synths. |
