Awesome String Pieces (recs?)

These are pretty cool. Some of them I've posted multiple times but I really want people to look them up
1Richard Strauss
Metamorphosen

More people REALLY need to listen to this, it's incredibly under-appreciated. One of my all-time favourite pieces of music.
2Alban Berg
Violin Concerto

Also needs much more exposure
3Edward Elgar
Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85
4Johann Sebastian Bach
Cello Suite No. 2 in D minor, BWV 1008

My favourite of his cello suites. This one is incredibly morose, but the cello carries that emotion incredibly well in this piece.
5Samuel Barber
Adagio for Strings

This one's actually incredibly popular outside of this community, and probably known to a lot of the users on here as well.
6Arnold Schoenberg
String Quartet No. 2, Op. 10

This is where he first started really utilising his "atonal" style
7Niccolo Paganini
24 Caprices For Solo Violin

Obviously one of the most talented violinists ever. Think what you will of the pieces themselves, you have to admit the extreme difficulty involved in playing them.
8Tommaso Albinoni
Adagio in G minor

Also pretty well-known piece.
9Gustav Mahler
Symphony No. 5 in C sharp minor

Movement 4, or the Adagietto, is amazing.
10Richard Wagner
Tristan und Isolde

The preludes to act 1 and 3 are amazing (1 is very passionate and melancholic, and 3 is very heavy and has this dark, tragic tone to it)
