Keyblade's 2011

Another 2011, yawn
15BADBADNOTGOOD
BBNG

BBNG is a great blend of hip-hop and jazz. Oh and that Zelda medley is ridiculous.
14CunninLynguists
Oneirology

A hip-hop album with a very distinct atmosphere, it isn't often you can say that. The dreamy atmosphere really plays off the loose concept of this album.
13Esoteric
Paragon of Dissonance

Funeral doom that is both crushing and melodic. Drags a bit though.
12Kashiwa Daisuke
88

Nowhere near as mindblowing as Program Music I, but it's still a great album. Using only the piano, Daisuke crafts some of his most personal tracks.
11Beardfish
Mammoth

Another band that went in a more hard rock direction. Thankfully it is only present on a couple of tracks. The rest are your trademark Beardfish 70's prog homage...this time with the welcome addition of the saxophone.
10The Devin Townsend Project
Ghost

Hevy Devy's ambient album. Probably the best album this project has to offer. Though I'll admit, it wore off me considerably since it came out. Lush, tranquil songs and masterful use of the flute.
9Scale the Summit
The Collective

Excellent guitar solos and general instrumentation. This album rarely becomes stale. Instrumental prog metal at its best.
8Fell Voices
Untitled

Great atmospheric black metal. Definitely a better alternative to the new Wolves in the Throne Room.
7Fair to Midland
Arrows and Anchors

Not as good as Fables, but this album contains some of their best moments. This album also took on a more hard-rock sound, which I wasn't really digging.
6Mastodon
The Hunter

Masto-pop, Masto-lite whatever you wanna call it, this is it. Their most stripped down album is also one of their most solid.
5Maybeshewill
I Was Here For a Moment, Then I Was Gone

The catchier side to post-rock. Tons of sweet melodies, and this album made great background music for me over the months.
4 Myrath
Tales of the Sand

This album sees Myrath up the production significantly, and their sound really benefits. Short, concise, catchy prog metal tracks from front to back.
3Swarms
Old Raves End

This album's got the best use of Beyonce's voice to date on the track Chapel. That is all.
2Steven Wilson
Grace for Drowning

This album really polarizes opinions on sputnik, and i'm of the opinion that this ruled. Admittedly, it could have done without the second disc.
1Laura Stevenson and the Cans
Sit Resist

One of the most endearing albums I've ever heard. I had my reservations before listening, but this ended after the first track. Never too cutesy, and always fun.
