Battles Live @ De Kreun
Went to see Battles live, yesterday. It was batshit insane, one of the best parties ever! That drummer, oh man... You saw they struggled at times, because of the loss of a member, but when the music hit, it hit hard. Below is the setlist.
Africastle - The opened with the album opener, set the mood real well.
Sweetie and Shag - Played at twice the tempo. It nearly became DnB, insane party track. The guest vocalists were projected onto the LCD screens, which they could manipulate. Impressive stuff, early highlight
Dominican Fade - The tempo kept rising, and it was like Hawaï in the club. Felt as hot as well.
Atlas - Needless to say, the crowd went wild, and with good reason
Wall Street - One of my favs on the album, and they nailed it. Man, good times!
Tonto - That other classic. Great version, but sadly they fucked it up near the end...
Ice Cream - In which they proved why it is probably the single of the year.
Inchworm - Seamlessy mixed with the voice of Matias Aguayo. Another fav on the album, also fantastic.
My Machines - Always found this track a bit boring. Live version was better than the album version, though.
Futura - Last song they played. Even better than on Gloss Drop. One of the funkiest rhythms ever.
Sundome - The only encore, but they extended it with nearly seven minutes or so. If it were up to me, they could go on forever. The end to a magnificent liveshow.
The support act was The Sedan Vault, a post-hardcore band from Belgium. Impressive stuff, check them out if you can.
I had a chance to see these guys live but didn't go, probably a bad decision, they're supposed to be awesome live. their studio stuff is hit or miss for me though.
Yeah, for me too. But the advantage of seeing them live as you can see, is that they only play the amazing stuff ;)
