05.08.12 | I've got about 60-70 bucks to burn and was thinking of buying headphones. Anyone try the Sony xba-1 ? |

05.08.12 | First bit of headphone advice I can offer you is to NOT listen to ANYTHING Baseline tells you. |

05.08.12 | @ Taylor: yeah, I gathered that. |

05.08.12 | Look, the point of this list was to get a detailed opinion. All these are far and wide regarded as very good headphones, that's why I'm considering them. |

05.08.12 | The ATH-M50 is probably your best bet, though I recommend putting out about $100 to get something exploentially better (such as the Sennheiser HD 598) |
BlueW
05.08.12 | I'm an ATH-M50 user, I highly recommend it but I don't think you could go wrong with any of these |

05.08.12 | How does it sound? |
clercqie
05.08.12 | Yeah, I thought about that. It's a good point and I agree mostly with what you say, but the problem is I need the isolation for now... So I'm planning of getting a closed pair first and then an open pair later on.
That said, I don't want to have my music be all mushed and sounding like it's being crammed in a box, so I want a closed pair with a decent soundstage (if possible). |

05.08.12 | Go here: http://www.head-fi.org/f/4/headphones-full-size
Search for each of these headphones and read. Great site. And yeah people do like the M50. I'd consider them as well I were on the look out for full size headphones. Currently got a pair of sennheiser IE80's.
My brother has a pair of Sennheiser HD 518 (Which I recommended) that he really likes and I can attest to the overall sound quality. I can also tell you that I found the fit to be a bit tight on the head, it changed slightly over time but if you got a big head or wear glasses they might be pretty annoying to wear at first, but it does get better. There are better sounding and more comfy headphones but they're a good all rounder.
You can read a pretty good review of them here: http://www.trustedreviews.com/sennheiser-hd-518_Headphones_review
And sorry for pointing you to just another pair of headphones. Search the site for review of any of the headphones you are thinking of! |

05.08.12 | Ohh and they do leak sound. So there's that. Edit: Found a review of the Shure headphones,

05.08.12 | So your budget is around 250 bucks?
I'd suggest wait for these http://www.bowers-wilkins.eu/Headphones/Headphones/P3/explore.html
Or if you can tweak your budget a little bit go for the P5. I'm saving money for these and tested them already, one of the best cans I've ever heard. |

05.08.12 | I have 3, they are really nice. |

05.08.12 | Hmm, I suppose you could say they are more monitor-like. Which of course is what you would want in a pair of headphones. I don't really get excited about headphones as some of what I've seen around here, but I can honestly say this pair produces every frequency very audibly and with quality.
The second factor is comfort and noise reduction. While they are comfortable and have lots of cushion, I have noticed if you wear glasses and don't sit the phones properly on your head, they push the arms of the glasses into your head and causes a bit of pain eventually. Noise reduction isn't like those Bose ones, but they naturally close around your ear to muffle your surroundings. I have no problem working out or even running with these things on. |

05.08.12 | I've excluded the B&W's, they cost way to much for what they deliver.
Thanks for the info, bloc. I don't want noise-cancelling so that's ok. The gripping force is a thing to consider... |

05.08.12 | "Those Bowers & Wilkings look really fishy to me, one thing you should know about headphones is that
bigger drivers usually create cleaner, larger sound with less distortion."
Uh, I know that man. Judging by previews these sound really great, but the bigger brother (the P5's)
has bigger drivers and those cans sound utterly fantastic. I've tested them myself. |
clercqie
05.08.12 | I'm certainly not shelling out the price for them though.... |
