04.12.11 | Yeti are you still going?
Hopefully the security is as lax me sneaking booze in as they were last year
I imagine I am going to hear a lot of shitty bass drops
Tell me if the bands I haven't heard are worth my time

04.12.11 | I want to see Costello in concert at some point. If he ever comes to Connecticut... |
wabbit
04.12.11 | where do I start on his discography? He's early stuff looks way better according to RYM |
CrisStyles
04.12.11 | His first two albums, My Aim Is True and This Year's Model, are the best place to start. They're both usually regarded as his best work. |

04.12.11 | The Hip rule |
wabbit
04.12.11 | alright will do.
Also the hip suck cause all their songs are the exact same. They are like the (slightly) talented version of Nickelback |
SloppyMilkshake
04.12.11 | Death From Above 1979 are fucking amazing...
Anyways, only band here (out of the ones I've heard) that sounds outright bad is Bright Eyes (that voice...), but otherwise, looks pretty cool. Worth it for Lips. |
wabbit
04.12.11 | Bright Eyes is awesome man.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeBjGiGaGo0
but I'll check Death from above out. |

04.12.11 | http://www.thefestfl.com/
I get to go to that, I'm excited. I think it rivals your little festival here... |
wabbit
04.12.11 | too warped tour-esque. |
dnor
04.12.11 | Eh, Warped Tour circa 2000 maybe.

04.12.11 | DFA are just some great crazy dancey goodness with a unique sound (no guitar, just bass). It took me a while to warm up to them, but now I love em'. I'd imagine their shows are a lot of fun too.
And Bright Eyes, in all honesty, just don't click with me because of Conor's voice. That's pretty much it. It's just an aesthetic that turns me off. But I wouldn't say he's a terrible songwriter or anything. |

04.12.11 | I don't wanna argue, and if you don't dig them I don't care at all, but saying all the Hips
songs sound the same is just stupid. Mind you they haven't had a great album in years and they are
really old now, they have a handful of quality albums (pretty much all their 90s discography). Using
them in the same sentence as Nickelback is laughable. Just my 2 cents. |
Yotimi
04.12.11 | Dude 10 is so good |
Yotimi
04.12.11 | ...And 35 will be the best thing ever |
wabbit
04.12.11 | alright my bad, I think I am getting them mixed up with someone else.
Do you know any of the other bands? |
sniper01
04.12.11 | beirut is cool |
Yotimi
04.12.11 | Not many. I like 8,13,39. 15's not bad. |
Yotimi
04.12.11 | Yeah beirut is alright too |
wabbit
04.12.11 | oh I thought fucked up was bad electronic band. A punk show with a bunch of french hipsters would be cool |
robertsona
04.12.11 | get that braids album. amazing stuff |
robertsona
04.12.11 | really surprised you don't know who beirut is. fucked up are amazing live. one of the best bands ive ever seen i think. elvis costello's studio albums are really great, get those asap. shad's song "rose garden" is awesome if a little too "positive". definitely give that a listen. as is smith westerns' song "weekend" (probably my song of the year thus far). |
wabbit
04.12.11 | thanks man, really appreciate it. And ya I've been meaning to get Braids album forever you tao and downer like it...it has to be good. I'm actually pretty embarrassed that I have never listened to Costello esp his show was the best show ever |
AggravatedYeti
04.12.11 | I don't know about Osheaga this year actually.
I'm thinking of staying stateside for my summer festival this time. Either The 'Roo, Sasquatch or huffin it out to San Fran to visit my buddeh and go to Outside Lands.
last year it worked out well as my friend was in northern Vermont for a few months teaching at a French camp so we went to MTL and stayed with an old friend and his wifey. Which is still an option this year... |
AggravatedYeti
04.12.11 | also: get braids. |
AggravatedYeti
04.12.11 | also tbh besides seeing Elvis Costello, Eminem & The Flaming Lips and save a few of the smaller bands (pains of being pure at heart/braids) I've seen all these artists before : | |
aok
04.12.11 | heard great things about beirut, got a couple friends big into bassnectar but their tastes are hit and miss. lips are fucking awesome live. mstrkrft i vaguely recall being a fairly interesting house dj type if that's your thing.
o and dunno about sia's solo stuff but her voice is stunning. i love her work with zero 7:
