TheNotrap 01.14.12	David is also one of my favourite directors. Fight Club, Seven and Alien 3 are probably my favourite. I'm planning to see "The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo" this weekend. paxman 01.14.12	It's cool for kids to think Fight Club is one of the best movies ever, like Donnie Darko (though Fight Club is a much better movie than DD). My ranking would be: Se7en, Zodiac, The Social Network, Panic Room, Fight Club, The Game, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Alien 3. I haven't seen Dragon Tattoo yet, either.

rockandmetaljunkie 01.14.12	lol i haven't seen DD but i think FC is truly one of the best films ever. There is nothing wrong with the direction, action scenes, acting etc. It's almost flawless.
BugZoid 01.14.12	I definitely agree with Alien 3 being last. I'll have to give it another whirl here sometime, but fuck damn was that a flop. But I do believe that while Fight Club was an obsession of my younger days that the direction of Zodiac and Se7en may be slightly better.

I have read the book and i think that Fincher captured the nihilistic, dark atmosphere perfectly. Although i have some objections about the scenario of the film as it doesn't follow the book completely.
Masochist 01.14.12	Never seen 'Zodiac' or 'The Game', but I think that in this ranking, 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' would probably come either directly above or below 'The Social Network' (depending on how much you enjoyed that movie).

patrickfannon 01.14.12	How the hell is no one mentioning "The Game?" Definitely one of his best. By far. Michael Douglas is fucking incredible and the whole story is brilliant. Severely underrated film. Also, "The Social Network" was pretty goddamn miserable. Literally 95% of the film is dialogue, and corny, unrealistic dialogue at that. Thanks Aaron Sorkin! It does look cool, however.

patrickfannon 01.14.12	The book is better. I think I might be the first human being to have ever said that phrase. Ever. @fsharptrit0ne: Yeah, it wasn't THAT bad, but it was pretty goddamn shallow. I did like the soundtrack and cinematography, but otherwise, the entire thing was very short on depth and heavy on gimmicky, flashy scenes. I love David Finicher, but he is capable of so much more than "The Social Network." Eisenberg was good, though. I'll give him that. Justin Timberlake made me want to vomit, and not in the intended manner.

paxman 01.14.12	The Game was good, but I thought Michael Douglas's performance was decidedly flat and the concept sometimes laughably impossible. However, if you can get past these then the movie is pretty damned enjoyable.

scissorlocked 01.15.12	Alien 3 had a great first half man The first scenes, the ones during the autopsy and the others during the birth of the new alien while the monk was telling his little death-chant, were all great. The ominous atmosphere which is present in most of his films was also identifiable here. Too bad everything vanished when the hide and seek with that alien bastard came.
Jruined 01.15.12	This is the way Alien 3 could have gone, for those of you that haven't seen this. Would have been great. I think Fincher did a great job conveying the feeling of despair in the movie, at least until the second half. I wonder how much of that was studio interference though. Or you just didn't like it, but to say it was painfully average is painfully false. It had great production values and the actors participating were definitely invested in their roles.

Jruined 01.15.12	I don't see the issue with remakes either. They either (rarely) up the ante on the original or they are total shit and bring attention to the original production. They don't negate the existence of the original.
