More Intensely Impressive Jams
alllllllllll the music |
| 1 | | The Arrogant Sons of Bitches Three Cheers For Disappointment
if this album doesn't put a big, goofy smile on your face, you're either deaf or dead |
| 2 | | Sublime Sublime
a celebration of all things music. every song is a winner. smoke weed erreday |
| 3 | | Coil Horse Rotorvator
fascinating sounds |
| 4 | | Red Krayola The Parable of Arable Land
more fascinating sounds. crazy quintessential ahead-of-its-time shit from the 60s |
| 5 | | Funkadelic Maggot Brain
i definitely prefer the sprawling, spiraling psych jams that bookend the album to all
the soul songs in the middle, but it's all awesome |
| 6 | | Minutemen Double Nickels on the Dime
this is just bonkers. forty-three songs and endless fun |
| 7 | | Mahavishnu Orchestra Birds of Fire
pretty much the epitome of 'music for musicians,' but thankfully i'm a musician, so
this fucking rules |
| 8 | | Bad Religion No Control
amazing straight-up classic punk. no bullshit |
| 9 | | Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention Freak Out!
The Mothers of Invention put out a lot of awesome shit, but barely any of it's here.
this album's a bit boring, to be honest |
| 10 | | Gang Starr Moment of Truth
as far as classic hip-hop goes, i don't know what more you'd want |
| 11 | | Tom Waits Rain Dogs
more than twenty years old and it's still as eerie and potent as ever. one of my
new favorites. the LYYYRRRRICCSSS |
| 12 | | Kayo Dot Blue Lambency Downward
strange & wonderful. dem atmospherez |
| 13 | | The Number Twelve Looks Like You Mongrel
quint/essential mathcore. music to burn math textbooks to |
| 14 | | Arcade Fire Funeral
i feel like an idiot. of course i heard this for the first time a while ago (although still
after The Suburbs, i think), but it just didn't hit me. my ear wasn't trained enough
to analyze delicate textures n all that. they're subtle. but at the same time, they're
blindingly obvious. i mean, 'Power Out' sounds like it was recorded in the damn
Coliseum. anyone with a trained ear should be able to discern this album's
magnificence. a true modern classic. |
| 15 | | Lights Out Asia Eyes Like Brontide
cool electronic-infused post-rock, if a bit melodramatic at times |
| 16 | | The Doppelgangaz Lone Sharks
deep, gritty beats and great rhymin'. no bullshit |
| 17 | | Binary Star Masters of the Universe
Endless, ingenious rhymes accented by entrancing beats accented by many an
ingenious sample. if you haven't heard this, get on it. |
| 18 | | Tortoise TNT
Just as good as Millions Now Living Will Never Die. All kinds of instruments and all
kinds of sounds to make all kinds of moods. A wondrous journey |
| 19 | | Animal Collective Strawberry Jam
I've been trying to get into AC for a while now. I love the vibrant, bubbly textures
and the fun, cartoony melodies- but there's still something in the way. Weirdly, this
is the album I feel the closest to at the moment, out of this, Feels, Sung Tongs,
and MPP. i think we need to just chill with lucy and then i'll finally fully get it |
| 20 | | Neurosis Through Silver In Blood
The band that's turning into my favorite band. The band that should've been my
favorite band a loooooong time ago |
| 21 | | Violent Femmes Violent Femmes
dayyyyyyyyyyyy AFTER dayyyyyyyy i get AAAAAANGRYYYYYY and i will
sayyyyyyyyy that the dayyyyyyyyyyyyy is in my siiiiiiiiiight when i take a
BOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW and say goodniiiiiiiiiight |
| 22 | | Public Image Ltd Flowers of Romance
wonderful torture music |
