Thinking About 2012, Best Of;

It's almost that time of the year where every user and their STI infested dog is writing a "Best Of" list. Rather than oppose such a process this year I figure I'll embrace it. List is a so far, and has much room for rec's of this year that you guys think I've missed. With love from iPod.
1Carach Angren
Where the Corpses Sink Forever

I was put onto this one not long ago, A black metal album that actually has a depth in it's songwriting. Lyrical storyline with an atmosphere to compliment.
2Secrets Of The Moon
Seven Bells

Not quite a 'Privelegivm' but with roughly the same process as Carach Angren (but of course in a different vein). Album is a grower as long as you let it sink in.
3Anaal Nathrakh
Vanitas

Definitely a bounce back from 'Passion', more or less a show of aggression displaying a controlled sense of aggression, also has guest vocals from the late Gorguts - Steeve Hurdle. Anaal Nathrakh has really picked up the quality with this release.
4Meshuggah
Koloss

There is always something to be said about the world's so called djent titans. Koloss shows a band that knows how to riff, scream, blast (you know, those things in the metal genre) you get the picture. Not really the best but steady and consistent enough to receive a mention.
5Dragged Into Sunlight
Widowmaker

If you haven't heard this three part titan, ensure you do before the year is out. Each part was recorded at different points over two years, adding to the growth and complexity of the album.
6God Seed
I Begin

Gaahl Returns!!
7Kreator
Phantom Antichrist

m/ Thrash will never cease to be a part of this world.
8Sylosis
Monolith

Steady enough to receive repeated listens, solid enough to get a mention. Honestly though not too special.
9Paradise Lost
Tragic Idol

I don't really have to say anything here do I guys?
10Enslaved
RIITIIR

I do like it when the veterans come out to smash heads together.
11 Nile
At The Gate Of Sethu

Same old Nile, nothing new here but done really well.
12Blut Aus Nord
777 - Cosmosophy

The final part of the trilogy, and respectable enough by itself to listen to.
13Monuments
Gnosis

Didn't go in to this album with any expectation other than 'meh'. Was impressed with more than what I expected. Maybe the low expectation helped these guys out but regardless...
14 Sophicide
Perdition of the Sublime

Another one of those 'must check out' albums.
15Eluveitie
The Early Years

Never thought a compilation would be able to maintain this level of quality, especially when putting together Eluveitie's earlier recordings. Fun to listen to, even just for nostalgic reasons.
16Ash Borer
Cold Of Ages

These guys don't seem to step in the wrong direction.
17 King of Asgard
... to North

Folk metal not covered in cheese.
18Nachtmystium
Silencing Machine

Something weird going on here.
19As I Lay Dying
Awakened

One metalcore album had to be good this year right?
20Marduk
Serpent Sermon

Returning to a former glory, nostalgic values maybe?
21 Darkthrone
Sempiternal Past

Something for the purists, black or death.
22Goatwhore
Blood For The Master

A steady release displaying everything of what Goatwhore is.
23 Alcest
Les Voyages De L'?me

I liek weird muzic i'm sure, Love you Noctus : ]
24Candlemass
Psalms For The Dead

The veterans are back with another slice of doom filled pie.
