Easily one of my favorite bands at the moment. Don't really have much to say about them other than the fact that they're extremely consistent across the board and the recent remix of "Captive of the Sun" ft. Bun B is fucking great. List includes some of my favorite lyrics and tracks from each album.
No, No, No!/ Alms for the Poor
Square States/Other Desert Cities
"She had eyes like a Taco Bell drive-thru,
open late and there on purpose"
Tally All The Things That You Broke
You Got Me Wonderin' Now/ The More It Works
"Dog-eyed kindness, naive and trusting
fans the purest flame of morning fire.
But once it fizzles out into a charred formless evening,
how do you ignite without turning to ash?(yeah)"
Black and White/ What Color is Blood?/ Instant Disassembly
"How is agency built in a life unfulfilled?
Tanned slow and low in the amines of guilt
Hung, stretched, beaten and dried like skin
Smooth, new and shiny but so paper-thin"
"When atonement comes in distant waves
I might wait until the next to break
Choking through forgiveness at a sunfly prompter
Staring through the back of my face
Its a vulgar, hidden part of being tethered to the world right now;
Spending all my dollars to remain a member
Nothing in my eyes but a scowl
Do I bother to define myself beyond what they allow?
Have I already forgotten how?"
Content Nausea/ Pretty Machines/ The Map
"Punk songs, I thought that they were different
And I thought that they could end it
No, no it was a deception
Well, the number of tears
And the number of beers were dried out and accounted
For a number of years
But these days I fear that my window was just a reflection
Still, you think that you're not a servant
You think that you can avoid
The stylish institution, worshiping illusions
Things you thought you could destroy
Oh, crowded loud and crimson was my view from the pit
I was wild, I was weird, I was shackled to it"
Light Up Gold
Master of my Craft/ Borrowed Time / N Dakota / Stoned and Starving
"I was up to my neck in motivation neglect when
I felt soft waves of purpose crashing onto the surface
I was feeling nostalgic for the days when
My thoughts dripped on to my head from the ceiling
I remember the feeling"
Human Performance/ Dust/ One Man, No City/ Berlin Got Blurry
"In walks the darkness, I pitch without you
Asks me do I realize what I'd done and who I'd done to, indeed I do know
It never leaves me, just visits less often
It isn't gone and I won't feel its grip soften, without a coffin
Breathing beside me, feeling its warmness
Phantom affection gives a human, performance"
