03.08.17 | I generally wait for the volumes instead of straight issues. Recs welcome as well. |

03.08.17 | 3 4 5 r good |

03.08.17 | gotta love scott pilgrim |
Devastator
03.08.17 | Yeah I picked up the colored volumes during a sale at our local comic shop. |
dbizzles
03.08.17 | I re-read Watchmen a few months ago for the first time in years. I forgot about Rorschach at the end. Been curious about Y: The Last Man. It gets rec'd to me a lot because I don't read much superhero stuff. |
BeyondCosby
03.08.17 | V for Vendetta is amazing
I wasn't as impressed by "Civil War" as I thought I would be. But it's still ok.
"Death of the Family" was quite good.
"The Killing Joke" is excellent as well. |
zaruyache
03.08.17 | have to order the new volume of one-punch man that just came out. P good for manga. |
Sinternet
03.08.17 | mm i have both the coloured and b/w versions and they really are something special
also dbizzles y the last man is pretty great i recommend |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.08.17 | I only read volume 1 of y the last man, it was okay but saga volume 1 was way better |
Devastator
03.08.17 | I'm only through half of volume 2 but I've been enjoying it very much.
@BeyondCosby Killing Joke is fantastic. I forget, Death IN the family is the Jason Todd arc and Death OF is more recent right? |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.08.17 | Ya I think so |
zaruyache
03.08.17 | I read Saga v1 and really didn't see what all the hype was about. The art was kinda crude and the writing here or there was meh. I'm not huge into comics, but it really didn't do anything for me, especially given the x100 megahype the series has. |
zaruyache
03.08.17 | "Death OF is more recent right?"
"death of the family" is when Joker comes back and starts wrecking stuff [again]. |
DinosaurJones
03.08.17 | Haven't gotten into comics too much...
The only series I own are Preacher and Locke & Keye. I'd suggest both, though. I've read the Walking Dead, I might get those eventually. I've been meaning to check out Saga.
Oh, I have the complete Bone collection as well. Bone is great. |
BeyondCosby
03.08.17 | @DinosaurJones Totally forgot about The Walking Dead. I bought the first Compendium but haven't gotten the other two.
I was surprised by Bone. A lot of my students dug it and I thought it was really well thought out. You should consider checking the Amulet series as well. It's definitely YA but I I thought it was well done.
@Devastator yeah it's the newer one where the Joker returns and tries to destroy Batman's "family". We also get a really cool insight into the Joker and Batman's "relationship". |
Devastator
03.08.17 | Nice, I've been meaning to read more Batman stuff. |
BeyondCosby
03.08.17 | Haven't read them yet but "Year One" and "Death IN the Family" are pretty well respected.
"No Man's Land" is another one that is super sweet. Really badass concept. |
Devastator
03.08.17 | Yeah I'm not that big into DC, always been a Marvel guy. |
dbizzles
03.08.17 | If any of you Batman fans haven't read The Long Halloween, you should do that. Apparently they used some of that as inspiration for Nolan's trilogy, mostly the Dark Knight. The TPB is on Prime for $14.
Anyone here read Kabuki by David Mack? I read the first volume and it was fucking superb. I've been collecting the other volumes so I can binge them. Real curious about the rest of the series because I've been flipping through the volumes I have so far and they look waaaay different than the first. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.08.17 | Lmao the saga art was too crude for zaru |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.08.17 | Anyways DC and marvel both have a lot of good properties and a lot of terrible properties and both currently have nothing new worth reading |
MillionDead
03.08.17 | Slott's writing has really put me off of Spidey's main comic lately. Mark Bagley & Brian Micheal Bendis's original Ultimate Spider-man run is some of the best stuff ever. |
dbizzles
03.08.17 | 'Anyways DC and marvel both have a lot of good properties and a lot of terrible properties and both currently have nothing new worth reading'
The only recent run I've read from either is the New 52 Swamp Thing and that's just because I'm a fanboy. It was half bad, half awesome. |
Conmaniac
03.08.17 | Watchmen was amazing even tho we overanalyzed the shit out of it in my AP Lit class |
dbizzles
03.08.17 | I'm sure that's easy to do with that novel. At least the professor assigned you something cool. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.09.17 | but why are the drape blue |
Conmaniac
03.09.17 | yeah it was fun for sure no complaints just hate that kind of shit. |
