The guys who have a distinct advantage are the heavyweights because their guts are so large that when they arch their backs the bar often only has to go down 6" or so to count. Small guys like me have a large distance to travel since our chests are small. Plus, the bottom portion of the lift is obviously where its hard, so the fact that taller guys have travel further in the top portion of the lift is really meaningless because that's where it's easy.

Try to maintain your lifts and eat alot of protein, dont eat carbs at night, and just eat about 500 less calories than your maintenance. yup i used to have a labor job like that back in the days, you have to be careful because to much stress will lead to injury, but yes stretch well as that will aliviate the lactic acid a bit but start slow, life 2-3 per week for about 4 months, that all you really need but if you're trying to get big lift very heavy with small sets and up your caloric intake |

You're not warming up your muscles or your joints, more specifically probably your rotator cuffs (shoulder joints basically). What I do to warm up every day:
-a circuit consisting of bodyweight squats (20 reps), pushups (20 reps), and bent-over rows (empty bar, 20 reps) and I'll go through that about three times. The purpose to increase blood flow to the muscles and prepare joints for heavy exercise.
-rotator cuff work in between those few circuits (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeZmGlj3dIw) and you do it with very light weight but steady.
also, don't even bother stretching. New science shows it's almost pointless to do for strength training. |

06.29.12 | yea, first year i worked out a split routine and often skipped my leg days. after i found out about plateaus (half a year too late) i switched to stronglifts routine which is basically bench/squat/deadlifts/military press with other secondary workouts and got like double the gains i had with split routine. from what i understand, your body naturally tries to even itself out, so working out lower body is still very beneficial for upper body. not sure if that is accurate |

I haven't maxed out in so long. I've been doing more rep work recently, case in point the other day I did 275 lb bench for 7. Last time I maxed out was like.
315 bench
450 squat (barely do legs ugh)
450 or so dead lift
I never do cleans but I have cleaned 2 plates to get the bar higher when it had weight on it
