| Reminiscing... Scenes From Hell
So I had my iPod on shuffle and The Summer Funeral came on; thats when it began.... At first I was hesitant because I was not really in the mood for avant-garde bm but I realized I had not listened to it since I bought the album back in '10. So the first minute or so was somewhat arduous but as I listened longer the feeling of appreiation came upon all at once and I was slightly taken 'a back. I then proceeded to listen to the rest of the album and I cannot in all certainty say I have ever enjoyed something quite so much. I do not believe in rating an album a 5 because realistically I have never come across something so brilliant, for an album to be a 5 it has to transcend mear art and beauty, becoming something more, perhaps even revelatory. Scenes From Hell is not that spectacular but it did recieve a rare 4.5 from me which I did not hand out generously but with great thought and over a dozen listens. Sputnik I urge those of you profoundly absorbed by this style of music to perhaps give it another try if you do not agree with my rating, and maybe even give it a rating if you have not already done so. | | 1 | Sigh Prelude to the Oracle | | 2 | L'art De Mourier
No matter how many times I spin this album I will forever associate it to this track. L'art De Mourier made Scenes From Hell for me and will forever be ingrained in my mind as being my favourite song from it. | | 3 | The Soul Grave | | 4 | The Red Funeral | | 5 | The Summer Funeral
The absolute simplicity of this track is appalling considering the level of enjoyment derived from it. | | 6 | Musica in Tempora Belli | | 7 | Vanitas | | 8 | Scenes From Hell | |

01.27.11 | simply wonderful album | InFiction
01.27.11 | Album is awesome but I think I prefer Hangman's Hymn. L'art De Mourir is fucking fantastic though. | Departures
01.27.11 | Hangman's Hymn was very mainstream imo compared to all their other work
the recording was very crisp and well purged of all the hoarse ferocity that is Sigh
though it was the album that got me into them
Imaginary Sonicscape got me to love them
Scenes From Hell made them one of my favourite artists of all time | Hyperion1001
01.27.11 | I see this in the record store every time i go and always hesitate to buy it. Perhaps i'll pick it up next time. | Gorification
01.27.11 | I do not believe in rating an album a 5
lol | Departures
02.13.11 | you should buy it
and an album that deserves a 5 would have to transcend meer music and should be relative to philisophical and theoretical concepts previously unexplored by any artist or group |
