02.22.11 Most Disappointing Albums By Great Rapp

Most Disappointing Albums By Great Rappers

NOTE: This list is not in order. Great MCs aren't perfect. They slip up sometimes yet those slip-ups don't stand out so badly. Yet sometimes, these great MCs like to think of incredibly weird ideas in their brain, thinking it's genius, or they just throw away that brain altogether. This is my list of the most disappointing hip hop albums made by great MCs.
1Nas
Nastradamus

"Nasty Nas to Esco to Escobar/ Now he is Nastradamus!"
This is the type of song the great Nasir Jones made during the Nastradamus
sessions. This hook alone represents the MC at his lowest. It was a terrible
album and one that should never have existed.
2 Eminem
Encore/Relapse

How did Slim Shady decide to make fart and puke jokes and pass it off as
humor? How did Shady decide to make lame sex songs or incredibly boring rape
braggadocio? And why the fuck did he decide to make "We Made You"?
Definitely the two big disappointments of his career because he lacked initiative.
In Encore, he wasn't trying. In Relapse, he was trying too hard by repeating his
played-out formula.
3Lil Wayne
Rebirth

Yea, it isn't technically a hip hop album. It is a rock album albeit a enormously
bad one. Sorry Weezy. Auto-tune "singing" over crass, pop alternative beats
DOES NOT count as rock. I'm sorry.
4Jay-Z
Kingdom Come

This one is debatable. I admit that BP3 and American Gangster in no way hold
up against the In My Lifetime series. I should have put Vol 2 and Vol 3 up there
in that top 5 Jay-Z albums list. But there is no doubt that Jay-Z's supposed
comeback was nowhere near what was advertised. Jay sounded uninspired with
his lackadaisical flow and boring subject matter. And Dr. Dre? That guy gave
FOUR beats for the album, and none of them were amazing.
5Ice Cube
I Am the West

I am a huge Cube fan. And as a diehard Cube fan, I was extremely disappointed
by his latest release. Like Jadakiss, I kept asking myself "Why?"
Why did Cube use terrible hooks for his songs? Why did Cube use uninteresting
beats? Why did Cube spit mediocre rhymes? Why didn't Cube talk more subject
matter? Why did Cube decide to make a song called "She Couldn't Make it On
Her Own"?
