05.02.11 | Seems like he gets bullshit attention every post-season now. Like when he couldn't walk off the court and then came back and played 5 minutes later.
Fuck, I that team. |

05.02.11 | he should NOT have been thrown out of that game. |
MCGF
05.02.11 | it doesn't matter what he said to the ref. its late in a playoff game. you don't throw guys out late in playoff games over bad words. |
MCGF
05.02.11 | its the playoffs. throwing out one of the best players on the court in the most critical part of the game for profanity is complete shit referring. but, no shit. the celtics didn't play that well. the referring sucked, but the heat were the better team today. its a seven game series. |
newjunkaesthetic93
05.02.11 | Fuck the Heat. Fuck Lebron. |
MCGF
05.02.11 | he plays emotionally. yes, he shouldn't have said anything. but the ref should not have fucked the end of the game like that. |
MCGF
05.02.11 | the celtics probably weren't going to win the game, I'll give you that. but this business of giving players technicals for "verbal taunts" is complete bullshit, especially at a critical part of the game. w.e. Pierce is gonna come pissed off angry motivated for game 2. |
MCGF
05.02.11 | dude. traveling is in the rulebook. arguing calls is in the rulebook. doing pushups (like lebron did) is in the rulebook. refs who try to call a game purely from the rulebook instead of using common sense are bad refs. |
BallsToTheWall
05.02.11 | Tried to kiss James like a bitch. Fuck you...also officiating sucked dont see wy Pierce was ejected, |
MCGF
05.02.11 | i mean if thats what the nba wants, then thats what the nba wants. I, for one, won't watch the playoffs if they become pussy ass effeminate shitshows decided by inconsistent referrering, but I guess thats just me. |
TheBoss88
05.02.11 | The play where Pierce got ejected was dicey, could've gone either way in a regular season game but not in a Playoff game like today's. Regular season, maybe - Pierce didn't have a first Technical today, then maybe too. But how it happened today was bogus.
My problem is that Pierce got fouled (should've been a Flagrant 1 - getting wrapped around the neck and not making a play on the ball) - the refs don't call that, so Pierce decides to stick up for himself since the Refs won't make a legitimate call and ends up with a Technical for it. The second play where Pierce got ejected shouldn't have been an issue IF the first one was called the right way. You can't decide big games like this on bogus calls - I'm not saying we would've won the game, but Pierce is the centerpiece of our offense in big game situations, whether in isolation to shoot or pass or what have you. Some type of difference would've been made.
I'm a Celtics fan and will admit that it doesn't make up for poor play and execution, Rondo's early foul trouble, not hitting shots, and not making simple plays when they could've brought the lead down considerably, but today was still a disappointment all around. Let's hope that Game 2 doesn't have the same issues and both teams play full strength. |
somberlain
05.02.11 | "Paul Pierce=bitch"
he follows KG's lead
hope they get bounced in this round |
BallsToTheWall
05.02.11 | Ray Allen still rapes The Heat. |
TheBoss88
05.02.11 | I didn't call it a dirty foul in any way, but a Flagrant 1 is a foul that makes no play on the ball, doesn't matter if it was on purpose or an accident - which is what happened. Of course it happens all the time, and Pierce is one of the best at initiating contact on a shot fake, that doesn't take away from the fact it was still a Flagrant 1. If it was dirty/unnecessary/over the line/etc, it could've been a Flagrant 2. Pierce's actions after the fact probably would've been different if it was called the right way.
Clearly you're not changing your mind here and that is absolutely fine - it's sports - but if you think the Heat didn't get the benefit of a great deal of dicey calls you're lying to yourself. Games over, they lost - I accept it - I just want to see both teams play hard and all this bullshit kept out of a game that is supposed to be played hard this time of year. |

lol ok let me point you to exhibit A: http://chicagoist.com/attachments/Marcus%20Gilmer/2009_04_29_miller.jpg
that wasn't called a flagrant foul even though Rondo knocked out two of Miller's teeth -- and if it HAD been a flagrant then Chicago would've gotten the ball after the FTs and would've won that game (and since they ended up losing game 7 at Boston -- that would've changed that entire series).
so, as much as I hate the MoHeatos (or the Menage a Twats, as I call them) -- no C's fan can legitimately make that argument.
I do think this new method of giving the official's free reign to call any little tiny "display of emotion" as a technical is horrible -- because it's completely subjective. LeBron and Wade are two of the most demostrative complainers in the NBA but every single ref is terrified to call them for techs 90% of the time. still though, the Celts have been the beneficiaries of those types of calls for years up until this season. |

Metalstyles
05.02.11 | All I can say is that don't be so sure you'll beat the Celts, Pit. Remember, at the end of the day, your Heat have one of the worst benches in NBA, especially so with Miller playing like shit this season and Haslem out indefinitely. I'm impartial to the outcome of the Celts-Heat series, but in my honest opinion, it can absolutely go either way. The team that plays with bigger heart will win it. |

05.02.11 | again...

no Celtics fan can complain about how the foul on Pierce should've been a flagrant, when they pretty much won a series because ^that call wasn't a flagrant. just sayin.
I honestly can't make much of a prediction on this series, Nick, because I didn't watch game 1 and missed most of the Celts' first round series as well. I'll definitely be watching game 2 though. |
Metalstyles
05.02.11 | I agree that speed might be the factor that gives Miami an edge, but the Celts do have some dudes who can keep up, like Daniels, West and Rondo obviously. The bad part is that West does have a bad habit of disappearing and Daniels is nowhere near an offensive threat (which means limited minutes). And well, while the C's bench is better than Heat's as far as potential goes, they haven't stepped up at all so far during these playoffs. If, and that is a big and impotant if, the Celts can get their bench players to add some productivity, you might be in trouble though. Seriously, the Heat have almost no one to take from there. Jones, Anthony for defense, and without Haslem that's all you've got.
And, uh, I'm too tired to discuss reffing at the moment because it generally ranges from sub-par to questionable anyway, no matter who're playing. European refs >>>> NBA refs |

05.02.11 | Osama > Pierce. |
BallsToTheWall
05.02.11 | And Osama doesn't try to kiss enemy soldiers. Also a big key for the series is stopping Ray Allen. Fuck everybody else.....ray needs to be stopped. Game shouldn't have been even close but Ray's shooting was god like. |
BallsToTheWall
05.02.11 | KG was a non factor yesterday but if KG and Pierce are consistent and Ray is being Ray then Miami has to man up to the challenge. However i'm impressed with Miami's swagger. They need to keep playing physical.
Also Dwyane's dive into the stand was epic. Too bad those women who shouldn't even be at the game were pussies and let him go through. Go back to the kitchen. |
Metalstyles
05.02.11 | Wait, they haven't got Daniels anymore? Shit, that's news to me. Also, to rebuttal, Miller has played like crap all season long and you know it Pit ;). Furthermore, Chalmers is far from a consistent bench threat. He's basically equal with Celts' West. Anthony isn't an offensive threat either, although he does play gritty D, I'll give him/you that. Jones is really the only one capable of giving the Heat an offensive lift off the bench on a nightly basis. And House is actually a decent shooter, but 1) he's too streaky 2) he doesn't do much else.
Oh and even though Wade would most certainly have the strength advantage, the Celts could try to put Rondo against him, although at this time of the year, I'm sure they won't experiment that way. Just an idea that I got - something they could've actually tried during the regular season. |
Metalstyles
05.02.11 | Yeah I didn't see the game so I can't make any comments about that. But the Celtics should let Rondo cover Wade anyway because Ray has just lost too much of his defensive quickness, not that he's ever been a lock-down defender anyway.
As for Miller, maybe I just don't like him, who knows haha, but the Heat definitely have other guys who can rebound as well and Miller haven't given them much else (he's not a great defender to be honest, just a competent-enough one). For comparison, hell, even Dampier can still rebound, but that alone doesn't make him especially valuable for the Heat. Same thing with Miller - he would be a very needed counterpart, but as long as all he does is rebound, he's rather useless. |
Metalstyles
05.02.11 | I didn't miss it, I just don't think he's particularly spectacular at it. He can usually keep up with his man, but he's not a defensive stopper. |
NigelH
05.02.11 | The Heat beat the Celtics at their own game, plain and simple. Game 2 will be different though. Pierce is going to come back with a vengeance, matter of fact the whole team is. If Shaq actually plays, he will help the spacing tenfold with his fat ass allowing Rondo to pick apart the defense with much greater ease. Celtics in 7. |

05.03.11 | I think it's retarded that just because it's the playoffs someone is going to say it's okay for a player, especially a big pussy like Pierce, to cuss out a ref. It's a rule and he broke it, the end. The Celtics are too old to win a championship anyway.
