Makes Me Sad
Musicians who's artistic vision was cut short. The artists in this list have put out rincredible classics yet.. what direction could they have taken from there? Makes me sad rthat we can never know.
Pacific Ocean Blue
This story makes me sad the most. Too me Dennis Wilson has more soul and sadness in his voice
than any other singer I've ever heard. Example: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xKcrdGULvbw.
His sadness stemmed from an abusive father, interactions with Charles Manson, Alcohol, and in my
opinion a sociopathic bandmate by the name of Mike Love. All put together created something
beautiful in the way he sang. Originally a drummer for the Beach Boys and later a prime songwriter
for the group, which I relate to because I'm a drummer but also a singer and guitarist. He died early
due to a drowning accident as a result of his alcoholism. He had only put out this one solo album
and had started a second unfinished album called 'Bambu'. All I hear in these both efforts is great
potential. Who knows what incredible music he would have put out today if he were still alive.
Here is an obvious one and I'm sure a fan favorite on sputnik and the world. Put out one incredible
classic and a second unfinished sketch of an album which is great too. Coincedentally he too
drowned. While this makes me sad, we did get a classic effort from him but I still don't think that
it's enough. He was an artist with many more tricks up his sleeve and wanted to challenge himself
and change his sound. It could be that he would have put out something even greater than 'Grace'.
It could be. Shit just makes me sad.
No Brian Wilson (brother of Dennis Wilson) did not die. This guy is still putting out music to this day,
great music. The man behind The Beach Boys, and the man that sadly lost his mind. After 'Pet
Sounds' was finished Brian went back into the studio to create his masterpiece 'Smile'. But
unfortunatly all the pressure he put on himself got the best of him and he fucking lost it. He really
was never the same sadly and Smile was left unfinished and the sessions were only just released in
2011. Even though he has great albums under his belt, it still makes me sad. After his breakdown
the rest of the Beach Boys took the songwriting role and made some great material even with a
shattered Brian Wilson. But what would it've been like if he wouldn't have gone nuts? Whay kind of
incredible sounds would the group as a whole create? God only knows. I mean the beatles were
pumping out great album after great album. I believe this would have been the same case with the
beach boys. 'Pet Sounds' was the true beginning of the Beach Boys artistic vision as was 'Rubber
Soul'. So this whole scenario just makes me sad.
There are obvious others, but these are those that I care about the most. Care to add?
Elliott Smith?
Chuck Schuldiner of course
dude it would be fuckin sick to die in your prime and be immortalised and fawned over for eternity
Good list. Syd Barrett would be one of my choices. Very tragic musician who, like Brian Wilson, also suffered a severe breakdown. But I suppose if it wasn't for his departure from Pink Floyd, they would have never written their better known albums.
|@ ffs while i somewhat agree with you the only one that would apply for that on this list would be Jeff Buckley. That being
said he is dead and can never experience this fame. I think he would have rather put out more music so as to inspire more
people throughout eternity. I'd say the Beatles ended it at a perfect time for what you are talking about because they had a lot
of material out.|
Your mother.
@ paperbackwriter yea word. I do prefer david gilmour pink floyd but it would have been a much different beast if he didnt lose it. And a very interesting sounding beast too
agreed about syd barrett
funnily enough I watched a documentary about him just last night, pretty sad
his solo stuff is ok, moments of brilliance but yeah strange how he was done with music in his mid 20s then just lived on as a hermit
Mayhem - Dawn of the Black Hearts
