12.04.11 | Hate girls who relentlessly play Radiohead, but I too love when people actually want recs/listen to them - so kudos sir. |

12.04.11 | maybe they don't take your recs because you give them Radiohead

12.04.11 | @Acanthus: Haha, thanks. I don't think I've really met a girl who makes it a point in playing Radiohead in front of me, though I have had that experience with a lot of scene girls/scene music. My friend more so tells me about her newfound obsession than she does show me, but that's mainly because it's her way of relating to me in a nerdy sort of way. |
Acanthus
12.04.11 | I can understand that, good luck with the recs! |

12.04.11 | Sixteenth: I've honestly no clue what that last bit of typed sound was supposed to mean. Were you trying to be funny? Or are you expressing your disgust at Radiohead? |

I tried to make it so that it transitioned from what I considered more accessible from their OK Computer stuff onwards to things with more experimental value, and then go into songs that were always a bit more emotional to me. I mean, the things she's listened to so far have been from the Bends, like Fake Plastic Tree and Just, so I wanted to make it likeable, but also representative that Radiohead isn't just 90s alt rock sort of music. What would you have put? |
TheVoiceAndTheSnake
12.04.11 | weird fishes/arpeggi and songs like that might turn her off, might start out giving her some more of their accessible stuff. |
spillingmercury
12.04.11 | See, for me, Weird Fishes and the rest of In Rainbows was always something that just naturally clicked for me. So accessible is sort of a vague term when I think of it in regards to Radiohead, except maybe albums like Kid A and sections of OK Computer. For me there's a difference between really emotionally investing into a song and understanding it and using it as pretty background music, and most of their stuff I've always started off thinking of it as "it's pretty, I don't understand it, but I can listen to it."
So any suggestions as to accessible? |
