Hey, they know what their listeners want. Your loss if you don't check any of them out. |
Steamboat01
11.27.11 | Oh no I will, I was just agreeing about the names. |
Vesper
11.27.11 | Eh, people like to point that out about metal bands when the same can be said for a lot of other genres, since bands often pick names that represent their sound and identity.
But, yeah, enjoy the list. :] |
jefflebowski
11.27.11 | I dunno Vesper, albums by say, Arcade Fire (Funeral et al) could sound like anything looking at the titles and covers. However, 'Slow, Descending Agony', or 'Convocation of Crawling Chaos' (by Cruciamentum, nice alliteration) do pretty much categorize the album for you |
Vesper
11.27.11 | Yeah, metal albums are less subtle about it, particularly in death metal, but the music itself isn't typically known for subtlety either, as far as being loud and heavy go (although I could argue otherwise, haha).
Even if Funeral isn't a giveaway, the band name - Arcade Fire - definitely does give them away for me as something in the area of indie rock.
Obviously, a very broad genre tag, but then again, saying a band name like Cruciamentum gives them away as metal doesn't really say too much about their music either, even if you managed to narrow it down to death metal on the basis of the name.
