Trebor.

09.26.14 | This is a really good idea , something I've been considering lately!! |
Supercoolguy64
09.26.14 | man that sound terrible, good luck with the therapy! |
Shuyin
09.26.14 | @Supercoolguy64, thanks man. self confidence is important
@Dancedrewdance, you got hearing problems too? |
Shuyin
09.26.14 | cheers Cap, we're together (normal saying here in Portugal between bros:" estamos juntos") |
scottpilgrim10
09.26.14 | That's sound awful especially for an avid music listener. Good luck with your therapy man! |
Relinquished
09.27.14 | tough luck but good shit keeping your head high and smart about it |
Shuyin
09.27.14 | @scottpilgrim10 yea, listening to music has become such a pain, i need earplugs or else the feedback will kill
@Relinquished too right because im not sick, this a brain malfunction and if i let it get to me then its the endgame. sucks but its still too early yknow |
Onirium
09.27.14 | Good luck man, sounds pretty awful. I've heard this treatment works, but I'm curious how it works, though, like, how does pink noise retrain your sensitivity? |
ChoccyPhilly
09.27.14 | Sorry to hear man, I had a tinnitus scare once and it really upset me (lasted 2-3 days) and I couldn't sleep either. Hope everything works out for you |
ScuroFantasma
09.27.14 | I'm curious how it works, though, like, how does pink noise retrain your sensitivity? [2]
Anyway, hope you get better man, I'm sure it sucks to have one of your senses down |
henryChinaski
09.27.14 | Good luck and get well soon! I have similar issues from time to time. Fuckin sucks if you wanna jam some tunes |
Shuyin
09.27.14 | "how does pink noise retrain your sensitivity?"
the noise levels help balance your hearing the tolerance.. and thats all i know
there's still so much to learn about this subject. doctors have no idea how this problem works, it cant even be diagnosed . and there is no actual treatment or cure |
Shuyin
09.27.14 | "Sorry to hear man, I had a tinnitus scare once and it really upset me (lasted 2-3 days) and I couldn't sleep either. Hope everything works out for you"
now imagine that ringing noise 24/7, but ive gotten used to that.. hyperacusis is the real bitch. thanks man
"Good luck and get well soon! I have similar issues from time to time. Fuckin sucks if you wanna jam some tunes"
cheers! you really should see a specialist, just in case. having a source of white/pink noise near you while sleeping may help |
ChoccyPhilly
09.27.14 | Did this all spawn because of tinnitus? Because I know people who have that but they aren't at this stage yet... |
Shuyin
09.27.14 | i dont know, it may have been tinnitus or the loud noises at work. probably the latter but since medicine is still so far behind in this issue i really cant tell you for sure whats the cause
curious fact, therapy may actually work but its specified that overprotecting the hears may worsen the problem |
ChoccyPhilly
09.27.14 | Assuming you're an avid music listener, this must be worse because you're more aware of sounds in general. I'm pretty sure it's going to be many years before they can resolve these kinds of issues, because it's been suggested it's a conditioned mental disorder and stuff |
Shuyin
09.27.14 | it is, thats why tinnitus is a sound that only the patient can hear. the ears have a problem and
automatically find a way around but the brain understands this as a noise. there are many causes
for tinnitus and many different 'whistles'.
it does suck for me to cut on the music but since my taste has stuff with ridiculous feedback in
it, it may just be for the best and if i do feel like listening to some metal, ill be using the
earplugs. better safe than sorry |
Ryus
09.27.14 | damn dude. i have tinnitus and mild hyperacusis, but its not nearly as bad as how you describe yours to be, good luck dude |
ChoccyPhilly
09.27.14 | Ever since my little scare, I've turned down the volume so much, but i'm just at that age where i want to listen to something as loud as possible if it's something I enjoy. Never take silence for granted.
Well i've read that it's damage to the cochlea hairs and they continuously vibrate, even without the presence of noise. I've heard horrible stories about it though, like having to sleep with the shower on, not being able to sleep at all, depression and even going far enough to want to sever the nerve between the ear and the brain (which is stupid). Either way, hang in there bro! |
Shuyin
09.27.14 | Thanks Ryus, best wishes to you too mate |
Shuyin
09.27.14 | its a touchy subject, yknow.. the tolerance and resistance of noise levels varies from person to person. see i have a pal that goes to concerts all the time, listens to his mp3 as loud as it'll go and he's just fine. but when i went to a metal concert for the first time, i left with my ears ringing and it took me like 3 days to recover
i know theres so much to find out about this but dont worry, im not going that crazy. i used to need pills in order to sleep, but now i can sleep without them. all i need is my cat warming my feet ahahah
you see, what really pisses me off is not being able to do daily tasks without feeling either pain, regret for doing it (because i was exposed to noise) and feel uncomfortable. i can see myself losing my job over this because the noise levels there are just way too much, but i had a talk with my boss and he understood my situation.. well at least he seemed to understand. im trying to find a quiet workplace, if i can control the noise levels around me and get this therapy working ill be living a perfectly normal life |
ChoccyPhilly
09.27.14 | What do you do bro? And yeah, I know people who are the same. They show me some music and it's far too loud for me to handle, so
i jut push it away because it's so uncomfortable, yet they manage it fine without any problems |
Shuyin
09.27.14 | i used to work at a restaurant, which was awesome tbh but now im at a factory working as electrical.. something.. i have no idea how to say it in english. but most of the time its heavy machinery and tools that make so much noise. the past few months i havent been able to get my work right because i just cant focus
ikr, it happens all the time when im with my friends. when they used to show me something i would slowly put that thing my ear and then take it off. they we're always like "whats up? you dont like the song?" and i answered "its just too loud". to listen i just hold the thing in my hand and have it turned the other way around so that the sound vibrations wont make that much impact. i used to listen to my mp3 all the time and it was a wild drama having to quit |
ScuroFantasma
09.28.14 | if you are around loud machinery a lot shouldn't you have ear muffs on hand as standard ppe? I thought they had to be supplied in those conditions? |
Shuyin
09.28.14 | yea, ive got ear plugs but with time i started feeling the effects of loud noises. true protecting is a pair of headphones |
