| My Top Ten Favorite Covers
Please no one be shitty. This is just my opinion. I'm open to debate
about my list, but I'm not going to have an internet retard fight with
anyone. Ha. | 10 | I See Stars Your Love
Originally performed by The Outfield, this song is really sweet. Devin Oliver's
wonderful voice makes this cover that much more amazing. | 9 | My Chemical Romance Astro Zombies
An older song by The Misfits, this cover wasn't too amazing, but it was
catchy and was most notably the only decent cover that was featured on
the Tony Hawk's American Wasteland game soundtrack. | 8 | Marilyn Manson This Is Halloween
I hated EVERY song on that annoying Nightmare Before Christmas CD that
got released for God knows why. This was the only stand out song because
to me, a cover is all about making the song your own while staying
somewhat faithful, and that's EXACTLY what was done here. Creepy voices
and all. | 7 | Of Mice & Men Poker Face
I'm almost certain this Lady Gaga cover was meant to be a myspace joke,
but it actually turned out pretty good. It also skyrocketed OM&M's career.
Yay for myspace? | 6 | Sea Of Treachery Misery Business
Contrary to popular belief, this is actually the original version. No not really.
But in all seriousness, this cover is good enough and fits this band so well,
you'd actually think it was. Minus the fact it's written from a female
perspective of course. | 5 | Motionless In White Dragula
In an age where the ridiculous trend of covering rap songs is "what's hot",
MIW came out of nowhere with a dark and crazily accurate cover of a classic
Rob Zombie song. Points for being original and making the cover amazing. | 4 | HIM Don't Fear The Reaper
The Blue Oyster Cult original catered more to hippies and such, while the
HIM version takes the somewhat dark lyrics and turns this into a love song
for goth kids. It's AWESOME. | 3 | The Misfits Monster Mash
This one doesn't really need a reason. Corny but creepy fun song for a
creepy band. PERFECT. | 2 | AFI Jack The Ripper
This classic song by Morrissey has seen a really awful cover by My Chemical
Romance, but this version blew me away. AFI really does make all the best
covers. | 1 | Winds Of Plague Halloween
Originally performed by The Misfits, this song has had NUMEROUS covers
already, but this was definitely the most original and unique one that really
caught my attention. The screams fit perfectly for a Misfits song believe it or
not. | |

10.27.10 | list sucks | BatmanDTW
10.27.10 | haha, how so? not really seeing it.
again, i said it was MY favorite covers.
not the best of all time or any of that bullshit.
you'll get over it. | theacademy
10.27.10 | dude i was going to comment last night, but i weighed having 0 comments vs. 1 scathing comment and i figured I'd do you a favor.
this is really really terrible, for 4 main reasons:
1. you managed to pick a bad AFI + Manson cover, when they both have several great studio covers. like really good ones. and you pick the two that suck. it hurts my balls, man
2. that Outfield cover is an abomination. I mean, have you at least heard the midtown cover? (its also on a punk goes... compilation, only it doesn't completely butcher such a beautiful song)
3. the misfits suck, man.
4. no johnny cash. | theacademy
10.27.10 | 7's ok and 4 is good but not great. | theacademy
10.27.10 | also cool profile pic | Counterfeit
10.27.10 | Needs Faith bro | SomeKindOfLove
10.27.10 | Just because Johnny Cash did a cover, does not mean it is the best thing in the world.
I wouldnt have put it on my list either.
This obviously is a list, of personal favorites.
I dont understand how a person could even like music, if they thought the misfits sucked?
The only thing that is missing on this cover list is the foo fighters cover of tiny dancer.
but other than that, i agree 100% with you. :] | BatmanDTW
10.28.10 | @theacademy marilyn manson may have better covers, but that one is far from sucking. it's really well done. and yes, EVERY cover AFI does is great. that one is just the best. you have their live cover of just like heaven, the decade old cover of the hanging garden, the techno version of the INXS song don't change, or the other 20 misfits covers they did. haha. jack the ripper was very well done. also, how can you give any kind of AFI praise and say the misfits suck? there would be no AFI (or a lot of other bands for that matter) without them. they've always been great and will always be great.
other than that, you're entitled to your own opinion. and thanks about the profile picture. | BatmanDTW
10.28.10 | @somekindoflove
thanks for agreeing with me.
i'm not a big foo fighters fan. haha |
