|2011 Pt. 2|
A revised favorites of 2011 list.. I guess this is my "Best of the first rhalf of 2011" list.. I'm rrrunning out of stuff to listen to, so I'm asking rfor recs again. :D Really into anything on the rremo/screamo/hardcore rside right now.
|1||The Devin Townsend Project|
I've got a little boner.
David Comes To Life
He would have made that girl his wife.
|3||Crash of Rhinos|
Like American Football, but with more energy and a touch of aggression. I
only heard this three or four days ago, but if I'm not listening to this at
least once every 90 minutes or so, I start losing my mind.
Old Raves End
Like Burial but.. well, prettier.
Deathconsciousness is one of my favorite albums of all time. This is like if
Deathconsciousness was remade as a folk album. Industrial folk?
Whatever, this rules.
One of the FUNNEST albums of the year for sure. Way better than Mirrored
if you ask me.
A I A: Dream Loss / Alien Observer
Fell in love with this one while listening to it in my car before my 8:00 AM
12 ratings!? This shit is massive, atmospheric, and eerily mechanical-
sounding. And strangely hypnotizing...
|9||The Devin Townsend Project|
Do I need to explain this? This year has made me a Devin Townsend fanboy.
Took me a while to fully appreciate this one, but this is pretty hard to deny.
Fables of the Sleepless Empire
Parting The Sea Between Brightness And Me
LATE NIGHTS AND ALL NIGHT DRIVES
ARE THE REASON WHY I'M ALIVE
AND I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE.
The most transcendental album of the year.
|14||Panic! At The Disco|
Vices & Virtues
I was convinced Pretty.Odd. marked the death of Panic!. Thankfully, I was
Haven't been a big Ampere fan in the past, but this made me a believer.
This would be a lot higher if it wasn't three minutes shorter than one song
New History Warfare, Vol 2: Judges
There were those that couldn't take it.
w h o k i l l
This is a pretty recent dig.. It may be climbing this list after a while. This is
a ton of really bizarre, confusing fun.
From here on, these are in no particular order.
|21||Laura Stevenson and the Cans|
Overrated, but still has a lot of charm.
|22||The Dear Hunter|
The Color Spectrum (Complete Collection)
Overrated, but undeniable.
|So what's the deal with the random lowercase r's everywhere?|
|you make crash of rhinos sound great. looks worth checking out. solid list.|
|lol at 21 being overrated|
nobody knows who the fuck she even is
|Man 1 is so boring it's ridiculous. For the most part these albums rule though. |
|theres a little sect of sputnik that is reeeeeaaaaally hyping 21, maybe a little too much.|
|Yeah the first couple ratings for it are: 4, 4.5, 3.5, 4.5, 4.5, 5.0, 5.0, 4.5, 5.0. 4.5. Plus a 4.2 overall score and a 5 review from a staffer (Emeritus, whatever). =P Etc. |
|you can't stop the sit resistance|
|That's the magic of Gloss Drop. |
And I like Sit Resist a lot, I just don't think it merits a 5.
it merits many 5s
|haha well not one from me. =P |
Also, "most fun" would have sounded stupid.
|agreed on laura stevenson. list balls out of control|
|I don't know if your comment about 34 is a joke, but Liturgy is the most laughable black metal act to come out in a while. Then their frontman had to actually affirm his bad music with bad philosophy... oh boy. Since you're asking for recs anyway, check out Fell Voices 2008 demo for, uh, actually transcendent black metal.|
