Refused and Fugazi filtered through Modern Life Is War on Bondi Beach. One of the best Australian punk releases of all time; a post-hardcore tour de force by one of the scene's most revered bands. Not a single weak moment.

The Seer

Post-punk, post-rock, post-noise, post-Jarboe. Michael Gira does it again. The Apostate is magnificent.
4 Godspeed You! Black Emperor
'Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend!

One of the best comeback albums ever released, if a bit short. GY!BE are back.

All We Love We Leave Behind

This doesn't need any justification. Bannon, Koller, Newton and Ballou are masters of metal/hardcore fusion.

Skelethon

Arguably Aesop's best album in over a decade, and sporting some of the best production in modern hip-hop.

Not as immediate as Diamond Eyes but just as good.

Modern British hardcore's best up-and-coming band do it again.
