Once Upon A Time

I think I've come a long way in terms of listening to "better" music since joining Sputnik. I guess by "better" I mean more (technically) complex, more original, and more well respected, all of which - I believe - are subjective things. In any case, I've learned to appreciate artists like Elliott Smith and Laura Stevenson, I've been exposed to bands like Porcupine Tree and Opeth, and I've learned to appreciate the great talent it takes to create an album like DJ Shadow's "Endtroducing". Over the months, many users have been telling me my lists have "improved" since I first joined the site just over a year ago. But here's the thing: while my musical interests have certainly expanded, they haven't necessarily changed. I still love the music I listened to before joining the site, and even though I spend more time listening to other music, I still have a deep sense of connection to those songs from an earlier point in my life. This list is ten songs that still spark strong emotions for me when I listen, especially on days when I'm feeling down, lost, unloved or what have you. Kudos to anyone who is familiar with even just a couple of them.
