09.04.14 | How can you rank live and studio albums together?
Anyway, brave attempt, I still have to check a few albums, but so far Freak Out! is my favourite |

09.04.14 | It would be easy with Zappa to rank live/studio albums together because Zappa blurred those lines to great effect. Numerous studio releases contained some form of live performance while his live albums oftentimes would contain studio overdubs or edits from a completely different concert altogether. |

09.04.14 | Veldin, you should check out You Can't Do That on Stage Anymore Vol 2 or Road Tapes Vol 2 if you enjoy Roxy and Elsewhere. |
Veldin
09.04.14 | @eddie - I just HAD to include Roxy, despite being a live, separate entity from the LPs, because it is the absolute Mothers album in my opinion.
@sleepdirt - Sweet, thanks mate! |

Oh shut up.
But I do disagree heavily with the ranking.
I'd go with:
5
3
4
1
10
7
6
2
8
Just Another Band from LA
12
meh 11 barely counts. |

09.04.14 | 11 serves the important purpose of providing a glimpse into what an early Mothers performance was like. I can take or leave the "mini-drama" about progress. The musical portion of the release, however, is truly some of the best Zappa I've ever heard. |
ArsMoriendi
09.04.14 | Fair enough. |
Veldin
09.05.14 | Interesting ranking, ArsMoriendi. Have you guys seen the "mini-drama" in the Uncle Meat film? The Mothers are genuinely humorous and enjoyable. |

09.05.14 | 3 is 1. |
Veldin
09.05.14 | Oh and "Roxy by Proxy" from this year is brilliant and I highly recommend it! |

09.05.14 | is this band even good? |
ArsMoriendi
09.05.14 | "is this band even good?"
If you like experimental prog/psychedelic/jazz fusion, satirical weirdness, then yes. Otherwise, probably not |
Xar
09.05.14 | experimental prog and psych rock, yes.
jazz fusion is a pretty damn gay genre tbh.
actual jazz >>>> |

Start with We're Only in It for the Money, it's not one of the jazz-fusion ones, but it has tons of experiments, psych, and prog. |
