| | Favorite Singers Ranked | | 10 | | The Devin Townsend Project Addicted
devin townsend: o man......its fucking hevy devy. just listen to a devin townsend
song and then a strapping young lad song and youll know why he deserves to be
here *best performances: aftermath, the way home!, more! | | 9 | | Gorillaz Demon Days
damon albarn: the guy almost single-handedly behind gorillaz. he is an extremely
versatile singer, which is necessary to keep up with the genre-hopping and mixing that
goes on in gorillaz. whether its indie, 80s pop, trip hop, or anything else, he always
complements the music perfectly. a creative genius with a great voice to boot *best
performances: on melancholy hill, stylo, el manana, feel good inc | | 8 | | System of a Down System of a Down
serj tankain: id argue that he has the most recognizable voice in music. honestly.
besides maybe ozzy. serj's arabic(?) accent, insane note choices, and overall
spastic delivery set him apart from every other singer out there. he really knows
how to calm down and sing softly too, but his signature over-the-top delivery is
what makes him, and SOAD in general, so great *best performances: toxicity, chop
suey, violent pornography | | 7 | | Pink Floyd The Dark Side of the Moon
david gilmour: absolutely classic singer from a classic band. could be on here for his
lyrics alone, but he also has one of the greatest voices in rock. if youre on a music
wesbite, you should really already know this, though... *best performances: time, hey
you, wish you were here | | 6 | | Against Me! Reinventing Axl Rose
tom gabel: ok so he's a girl now.......but for all intents and purposes he is TOM GABEL here,
for that's who he was when he gave his greatest performances. the acoustic EP and against
me!'s first 2 albums contain some of the most energetic, emotional, and often pissed off
vocals ive heard, and without gabel they would quite honestly be nothing. he's got an
extremely unique voice, and not to mention he is a pro at writing a good hook. for punk
vocals at their very best, see the acoustic EP *best performances: those anarcho punks are
mysterious, cliche guevara, pints of guiness, reinventing axl rose, searching for a former clarity | | 5 | | Iron Maiden Powerslave
bruce dickinson: ACES HIIIIIIIIIIIAAAAAAAIIIIGH!!!!!!!! enough said *best performances: aces
high, the evil that men do, run to the hills | | 4 | | Radiohead In Rainbows
thom yorke: the things this man does with his voice often transcends what vocalists are
"supposed" to do. from their more vocal-driven songs (exit music, fake plastic trees) to their songs where his voice is merely
another instrument (bloom, weird fishes,
reckoner), he always gets it right. extremely talented and creative frontman, but you already
knew that *best performances: exit music, idioteque, jigsaw falling into place | | 3 | | Brand New The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me
jesse lacey: generic pick? ok, but justified. really one of the best singers in modern
music. you can hear the emotion behind every word he says, especially on this album. he
can go from a near whisper to a pitched scream on the dime, and his note choice is just
awesome. lyrically....well, you know *best performances: jesus, you wont know, the boy
who blocked his own shot | | 2 | | The Dear Hunter Black
casey cresenzo: while the dear hunter isnt one of my all-time favorite bands, this guys
voice is just amazing. if you haven't heard it, just listen to one of their songs and you'll
know. his quiet subdued voice is great, when he really belts it out, its just magic. great
poetic lyrics too, always visual and interesting. (even better live, btw.) *best
performances: 1878, this body, the collapse of the great tide cliffs, the inquiry of ms terri | | 1 | | Opeth Blackwater Park
mikael akerfeldt: the man has the voice of an angel and the growl of a demon. both styles
are amazing in their own right, but its how he uses them together that makes it so effective.
ridiculously talented......oh does this while also being the primary songwriter and guitarist in
the band. *best performances: the drapery falls, ghost of perdition, burden | |

Thom and Damon's style is unique. Only heard 1 album each from the others. | Chortles
10.01.12 | 2-5 are my favorites off of this, but sweet choices all around dude. agreed on 2, casey has an
incredible voice. band would be pretty average without it | HitlerIsTheBest

10.01.12 | like? | Aids
10.01.12 | "damon albarn: the guy almost single-handedly behind gorillaz."
"serj tankain: id argue that he has the most recognizable voice in music. honestly" (you save yourself by saying "i'd argue" though so nevermind on this one I guess)
most of Floyd's vocals are done by Waters (most of the early stuff anyway) and most of the lyrics too
the thing about Tom Gabel being a girl is 100% irrelevant
"from their more vocal-driven songs (exit music, everything in its right place)" -- Everything in its Right Place vocal driven? um, what? am i crazy or is this heresy?
re: Jesse Lacey, I love Brand New almost unconditionally but the way you talk about Jesse like he's a lock for a place on a list of best vocalists is weird. that band isn't really known for their signature vocals.
i'm probably just being picky idk. good list still just some of the write ups were weird. | DarkSideOfLucca
10.01.12 | Solid list. Props for 1-10 | XingKing
10.01.12 | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2e832DJkzQ | climactic
10.01.12 | i knew youd say that about everything in its right place, bad pick now that i think about it. i just always think of the vocals and the bizarre lyrics when i think about that song
gabel thing may be irrelevant but its not an inaccuracy
jesse lacey thing was directed at the sputnik community in particular. i know most people on here love them and id expect he'd be on lots of peoples fav vocalist lists
i was under the impression that albarn is the primary songwriter in gorillaz? no?
and i guess i mixed up waters and gilmour? idk i thought gilmour replaced syd barett in being the lead singer
| fr33convict
10.01.12 | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Utxb-kzvFZU
cool list bro | Chortles
10.01.12 | yeah, waters was the primary lyricist and vocalist for a lot of floyd albums | fr33convict
10.01.12 | To be fair, Gilmour is a much better vocalist imo. | Chortles
10.01.12 | they're both great. waters was a brilliant lyricist though | Trebor17
10.01.12 | bjork | Calc
10.01.12 | LIST NEEDS THE REIGN OF KINDO!!!!!!!!!!! | Aids
10.01.12 | "i was under the impression that albarn is the primary songwriter in gorillaz? no?"
well yeah that doesn't mean he's "single-handedly behind their music"
"and i guess i mixed up waters and gilmour? idk i thought gilmour replaced syd barett in being the lead singer"
no all the songs you listed are Gilmour's vocals but after Syd it was Waters' band (he wrote the music and lyrics almost entirely). for a while, Gilmour was nothing more than a session musician for Floyd. up until Meddle, or maybe even later, Gilmour barely contributed with songwriting or singing. basically it went Syd==>Waters==>Waters/Gilmour===>Gilmour/Waters====>Gilmour
and yeah the Gabel thing wasn't an inaccuracy it just pissed me off | climactic
10.01.12 | i just said the gabel thing cause ive seen people online say HER NAME IS LAURA JANE GRACE NOT TOM GABEL | LarryArms
10.01.12 | fag play me | XingKing
10.01.12 | It's Tom Gabel and he is a man, not a woman. He was born a man. | Aids

10.01.12 | lol | Muisc4Life26
10.01.12 | list needs me. | FromDaHood
10.01.12 | I like Brand New's lyrics more than the vocals sometimes. | johnnydeking29
10.01.12 | 10 and no Anneke?
Great list though, 1 and 2 rule | ReturnToRock
10.01.12 | Fuck you for 4. List needs Freddie Mercury. | climactic
