Female Voices, French Cinema & John Cassavetes
What I plan to listen to, watch, buy and discuss today! |
1 | Fiona Apple - The Idler Wheel...
Just listened to this, well worth buying, never listened to her before but its clear
she has talent and the album is something quite special; could well be up their on
my albums of the year. |
2 | Regina Spektor - What We Saw From The Cheap Seats
Definitely her best album since Soviet Kitsch, its beautiful as always and she is
possibly the best female pure pop singer around today. |
3 | Julia Holter - Tragedy
This is near perfection, way way better than her album this year. Like a superior
Bjork, this is up their with Kate Bush and Meredith Monk's brilliance. Reinventing pop
music for our times along with Grimes and taking it all the way to the future. Highly
recommended! |
4 | Luc Besson - Subway
Watching this for the first time in ages. Remember it being amazing and just as
good as Leon. Reminiscent of the old nouvelle vauge it was an experience, hopefully
it will as good this time around. |
5 | Jean-Luc Godard - Alphaville
Underrated compared to A bout de souffle and Week End. It could possibly surpass
those two films with another viewing tonight. I remember it being sublime and the
lead performance is outstanding! |
6 | Francois Truffaut - Jules et Jim
Just a perfect film. If you don't like the films of Truffaut you have no heart and you
do not deserve to watch films! |
7 | Robert Bresson
Not seen much of Bresson, anyone know where to start? |
8 | Agnes Varda - Cleo from 9 to 5
This was on the other day, I've taped it. Anyone know of it, if it is any good and
what I can expect? |
9 | John Cassavetes - Faces
Thinking about starting with Cassavetes but I do not know where to start. Heard
this may be his best... |
10 | John Cassavetes - A Woman Under the Influence
Or possibly this? Help please?!? Or is he not worth it? |
