03.24.11 | This was an obscenely difficult list to make. All the albums are so sonically different from each other that it was hard to pick a favourite. In the end, though, Times Of Grace is the strongest album they made, if you ask me. It has some of their best songwriting and some ludicrously dynamic production. Vocals are terrific as well.
TSIB is almost as good, but in a completely different way. |

03.24.11 | 4 is way too low. So is 8 |

03.24.11 | I don't like either of those albums as much as their far more impressive sludge metal material. They're amazing albums, certainly, but they don't hold a candle to any of the albums in my top 3. |

03.24.11 | I wouldn't go that far and rank Neurosis albums. This seems impossible to me, even if I'm a big fan of them.
TSIB is my #1, but TOG and 3-8 are only one step behind. Been digging SAZ lately. |

03.24.11 | Like I said, all the albums (except for 10 and 11) are above 4.0 and most of them above 4.5. The differences are massive, sonically, but miniscule in regards to quality. In the end, I rated them based on what albums I enjoy the most.
I've also been digging SAZ a lot lately. Bought the reissue which has certainly re-sparked my appreaction for this album. |

03.24.11 | All Neurosis destroys |
NeroCorleone80
03.24.11 | Their first 2 punk albums are just ok. But yeah, everything from SAZ onwards is 4+ |

03.24.11 | "Enemy Of The Sun" never gets the love that it deserves *sigh*. But, then again, every Neurosis fan has different favorites. That's why I could discuss their music for days and constantly troll the reviews. |

03.24.11 | I don't quite.. "get" EOTS yet. The sound is mostly amazing, but I haven't had "that" experience that every fan of it seems to mention. "That" experience where you listen to the album all the way through, and let Cleanse completely obliterate you. |

03.24.11 | I've got all these albums on CD, except 9. Also have 'Grace' by Tribes of Neurot. Have you ever listened to TOG and 'Grace' simultaneously? |
DonniSharK
03.24.11 | I had an MP3 version once where they were mixed. Grace was mixed far too loudly, though.
I have the reissue of Times Of Grace that also has Grace with it. I've been thinking I should try listening to both, but I have no idea how to merge .flac files and keep gapless playback (which is absolutely essential for this album in particular) |

03.24.11 | @ Dominion: Not quite true. In fact, 'Enemy Of The Sun' is my favourite.
And I can't agree that "The Word As Law" is awful. For me it's great. It's just not their 'usual' style. |

03.24.11 | Neither is Souls At Zero, but I think that album is fantastic. |

03.24.11 | 'Enemy' just has a vibe to it that, to me, no other record of theirs can match. The album's running order is set up perfectly. The first half just crushes then kind of winds down in the latter part, before "Cleanse" hits you and, as the title aptly says, cleanses you on the way out. (My summation probably isn't as lucid or eloquent as other's summary of this record). |

03.24.11 | I need to try this TOG and Grace thing |

03.24.11 | Tribes Of Neurot released a 4-disc set designed to be played simutaneously. Anyone heard it? |
Pizza
03.24.11 | i've only heard their first 5 albums so far but 10 and 11 definitely aren't awful. |
DonniSharK
03.24.11 | >i've only heard their first 5 albums
Why would you listen to their 5 worst albums first :(? |
Pizza
03.24.11 | you have TSIB ranked second... and their stuff is long and requires full attention so i'm not gonna just listen to all the albums in a few days |
DonniSharK
03.25.11 | Woops, accidentally thought of abbaration af an album. If you started out with TSIB though, then I'm okay with it |
