Not because they're inaccessible, I just appear to be wired for punk and metal. I can usually see the "beauty" of things instantly or close to it; albums very rarely "grow on me." Most of my 5s were 5s after a listen or two, and then a two month wait to see if it really was a classic. I'm a similar way with genres. People called CTTS inaccessible and told me I'd hate it at first; I loved ATRU first listen. People called drone inaccessible, I liked it with my first listen to a well-respected drone band (Sunn O))) ) (how the fuck do you put that in parens?). Black metal, same deal. One of my best friends is heavily into electronica/techno/idontknowwhattocallitokdeviant.? . I can listen to it, and it's relatively enjoyable, but I wouldn't argue with some clod on a message board about the best artists, like I do for all the other stuff I'm into. alt/indie just bores me. Maybe it's because I'm used to punk and metal, but I have no desire to listen to any. I generally give some bullshit "yeah they're good" when people talk to me about/show me their favorite alt/indie.

Not sure if that counts, though. I don't think it matters if someone doesn't find a particular genre's style to be appealing or thinks it's difficult to get into, just like with visual art or literature.
