| Warped Tour Recap
As seen July 6th at the Palace of Auburn Hills. With temperatures reaching
107 degrees it would have been unbearable if not for the free sink water
inside and the great bands outside. And, even though the layout absolutely
sucked (one stage was near impossible to find), it was probably my favorite
Warped ever. Anyway, onward to the bands. | | 1 |  | Memphis May Fire
Challenger
Memphis opened up the day with their set delayed half an hour which was kind of
unfortunate. However, the set was totally worth it. Matty Mullins is a great live
vocalist and, even though I hadn't heard any of the songs they played, I had a
pretty good time mucking around in the pit and jumping around. The band had great
energy and it helped get the day started right. | | 2 |  | Four Year Strong
Rise or Die Trying
There was a break between when The Used was coming on so my friend took me to
see these guys. I'd never listened to them before the set and I was pretty blown
away from what I saw. I only caught four songs but it was enough time to see my
friend, who's an offensive lineman on his school's football team, go crowd surfing
and hear some pretty good music. Pretty decent set, better than I was expecting. | | 3 |  | The Used
The Used
I actually missed the first song they played because of FYS but I still managed to
worm my way into the 10th row of people center stage. They played a good
combination of new songs, even shooting a music video for one of the songs off
Vulnerable, and fan favorites (Listening, The Taste of Ink, closer A Box Full of Sharp
Objects). They also had the best pit of the day during "Pretty Handsome Awkward,"
which featured two Walls of Death. After they played I had nothing left and had to
go take a break but, between the setlist and overall crowd environment, these
guys played the third best set of the day. | | 4 |  | Yellowcard
Paper Walls
After a quick lunch, hot dog and water, I headed out to see Yellowcard while my
friend ate his Buffalo Wild Wings in the shade. I wanted a good spot for Streetlight
so I only caught a few songs here. They opened with "Breathing" which was really
cool but I would've preferred "Ocean Avenue." They also played a new song which I
liked a lot but I forgot its name. MVP performer goes to their violinist who has some

Somewhere in the Between
This band was 30% I went to Warped so I was expecting great things from them.
As always, these guys crushed their set, but that's not to say the set didn't have
its issues. The crowd, for one, was absolutely awful. I was probably one of five
people who knew all the words to all the songs so very few people had as much
energy as the band did. Since a band like Streetlight relies so much on feeding off
the crowd, that was a real bummer to me. Also, the opened with "Would You Be
Impressed" and closed with "Here's to Life" which were both deviations from the
norm that didn't really pay off. Despite all this, Streetlight was still the 2nd best set

Catalyst
Only saw two songs- a cover of "Basket Case" and "My Friends Over You." These
guys were super energetic and I'm upset that I didn't catch more of it. They really

Creatures
I got lost on the way to Polar Bear Club and ended up here. I only stuck around for
one verse because they were so bad. After a two minute long rant against people
who have never had to work a day in their lives (read: me) they started playing the
worst, most generic metalcore song I've ever heard. But, perhaps the worst part
was their getup: the singer had literally painted himself black and white with what
appeared to be Valspar and the guitarist looked like Sweeney Todd. It was hilarious. | | 8 |  | We the Kings
Smile Kid
I don't really like this band but my friend made me go and they were on main stage
so we needed to stay there for the rest of the day. Their Shaun White doppelganger vocalist interacted with the crowd in his childish way and played the
songs with no energy at all aside from when he was instructing us to clap or jump.
Pretty boring set and the worst I saw other than Motionless in White. However,
their performances of "Check Yes Juliet" and "Secret Valentine" were surprisingly

The Sufferer and the Witness
Rise Against wasn't bad per se but they weren't exactly great. Part of it could have
been the crowd who rushed the stage during "Collapse" and didn't stop until a few
songs later. As a result, I was in the eighth row, I got ping-ponged around between
the people pushing forward and the people up front pushing backward until I ended
up far stage left instead of in the center like I had been. When I was able to
concentrate on the music Tim did a good job running through classics like "Ready to
Fall" and "Give it All" as well as stuff from Endgame that I didn't care about. The
rest of the band, however, lacked energy and looked like they didn't want to be

Tell All Your Friends
Taking Back Sunday was 50% of the reason I came so I was feeling every bit of the
tweenage fanboy that still lurks inside me. I ended up in the front row against the
barricade right in front of Eddie and Shaun, which also meant that I had security
guards pouring water in my mouth between the set break, which was almost as
cool as seeing the band itself at the time. When they came out they received a
heroes welcome from the crowd and wasted no time running through their ten song
set. Opener "El Paso" was under appreciated by the crowd as was the follow-up
"Error: Operator." It started getting me nervous but when "Timberwolves at New
Jersey" kicked up all my fears were abated. Ignoring New Again entirely was a great
boon to the set, which highlighted as many classic songs as they could fit and
Adam, despite his dying voice, carried the set with great energy, killer mic swinging
and a surprisingly strong performance. Dude also pointed at me like 4 times because
I was the only person on my side in the front who knew all the words so that made
my day. Overall, TBS was the best set of the day and were worth it on their own.
It was a perfect ending to a day that easily could have sucked but turned out

@ILJAJLM I wouldn't recommend seeing Pierce the Veil. One of the worst live bands I've ever seen. | aok
