Life Is Beautiful Festival

So I spent the weekend at a kind of shitty festival, but I got to see Kanye rand Outkast so rrrrrwhatever.
1Milky Chance
Sadnecessary

First band to play at the stage I was camping out for front row Kanye. They were
whatever, definitely boring and repetitive. But they have that one song though that's in
every video. 0
2Holy Ghost!
Dynamics

Pretty cool, I like some of their songs. The vocals were kind of weak, but it's
okay we were all just chilling. +
3Phantogram
Eyelid Movies

I was actually excited to see them but I was with a crowd of people waiting to see The
Weeknd (read: 15 year old girls). So it was kind of lame, but they put on a good show
and Sarah has a lot of energy. When I'm Small and Mouthful Of Diamonds sound great.
+
4Girl Talk
Feed the Animals

Eyyyy this was actually really fun. I had no idea what to expect, but the dude is so
gimmicky it's irresistibly likeable. He blows toilet paper rolls with lawn mowers at you the whole time
and a bunch of other silly things. His mashups are pretty okay I guess, but yeah. +
5The Weeknd
House Of Balloons

Damn Abel's weak. I expected like a low-key performance, but it was the complete
opposite. It would've been better if he just stood there and sung the songs. It was so
corny and off-putting. I don't know why I expected anything else. He runs around with his Basquiat wannabe hair and makes
gestures at girls the whole time. Wicked Games and
Often sounded good live though. -
6Kanye West
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

The people waiting for The Weeknd in the front row left so I got there. Shit's crazy. If
you haven't seen Yeezy live yet you really should. Easily the highlight of the festival.
+++
7The Preatures
Blue Planet Eyes

First band of day 2, there wasn't anyone else playing and I knew a few songs. They
were decent and it was fun. +
8Paper Route
Absence

Hah, I felt really corny at this I left after the first song. -
9Bear Hands
Distraction

Super boring, no stage dynamics at all. The guy just stands there and yells into the mic
the whole time. I left during the second song. -
10Ok Go
Hungry Ghosts

These guys still exist? I got food and heard like four songs (that treadmill video one). 0
11MisterWives
Reflections-EP

No one else was playing and these guys were at the closest stage. Energy was cool and
everyone was having a good time. The lead singer is a cute. +
12Tycho
Dive

This shit is spiritual live i felt like I was floating. ++
13The Roots
Game Theory

Was really pumped to see them, but I ended up in the worst spot and everything
sucked so I left after 3 or 4 songs to catch TV on the Radio. Not that they were bad, I
just wasn't feeling it. -
14TV on the Radio
Dear Science

Not the biggest fan, but I liked their set. +
15Alt-J
An Awesome Wave

These guys do absolutely nothing on stage. They just sit their and play really
monotonously. Like they're bored or something, it was really off putting. Everything
sounded good though and Breezeblocks is amazing. 0
16Outkast
Aquemini

Super pumped to see Outkast that the hype kind of overshadowed the actual
performance, but it was still amazing. They brought out Sleepy Brown and did a lot of
old stuff. They hit everything really, even little solo sections for 3Stacks and Big Boi.
++
17Ryan Hemsworth
Still Awake

Day 3 kind of sucked so I showed up really late. Hemsworth was playing midway
through the day so I caught him. He's so awkward and personable that everything was
enjoyable. The crowd was shitty but I was feeling it. ++
18Broken Bells
Broken Bells

James Mercer is the 100% safe performance guy. Not flashy, but admirable all the
same. I'm not a huge fan, but their set was really good and the crowd was having fun.
+
19Arctic Monkeys
Suck It And See

Whatever. If you've seen a live stream performance you don't need to see them live.
They're so calculated to the point that Alex Turner's gestures are identical every time.
They played a lot off of AM and didn't even touch Mardy Bum or 505. But I guess
they're AM they do what they want. -
20Kacey Musgraves
Same Trailer Different Park

I was walking around and heard "Follow Your Arrow" so I went to check it out. People
were having the time of their lives at this show it was crazy. All types of fans too, they
were just chilling and not giving a fuck. I only heard that song but damn it looked like a
good time. +
21Skrillex
Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites

I went just to check it out (Foo Fighters was the other headliner). It was crazy, I can't
even explain it. I stayed for 3 songs then sat on a lawn and just watched everyone go
crazy. It's a spectacle for sure. +
