My top 5
5Earl Sweatshirt

Everyone was talking about Eminem's return with Recovery...but Earl
Sweatshirt must be the reincarnation of Slim Shady. If you like Slim Shady LP,
check this guy out.
Static Nocturne

I listen to this every time before I go to sleep. Something so minimalist has
never felt so expansive to me.
Asleep Next to Science

The most impressive musical release of the year in my opinion (by that I mean
2Circa Survive
Blue Sky Noise

I must admit I have a bias with this band, but there is a certain honesty in
Anthony Green's lyrics that is undeniable. With this, I also include the
Appendage EP. I love the music these guys make, thats about it.
1Kanye West
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

The most creative effort I've heard out of popular music in recent history. This
album romanticizes excessive hedonism (Hell of a Life) and egotism (Power)
while demonstrating simultaneous resentment (Runaway) and regret (Blame
Game). No matter what you think about Kanye, Hip Hop or popular music, this
album is incredible and I think its the best album of the year by a long shot.
