Lollapalooza Day 3

Last day of the festival. Here's who I saw and what I thought.
1Trampled By Turtles
Stars and Satellites

These guys were pretty fun and impressive (the violinist in particular), but
ultimately, they were just a standard bluegrass outfit. Performance rating: 3/5
2Sigur Ros

I was a bit apprehensive about Sigur Ros, because I didn't think their particular
brand of calming post-rock would translate well to the stage, but they pulled it off
surprisingly well. The songs were as beautiful as they were on the albums, even
(especially) when certain passages were made louder so that they worked better
live. Both the musicians and the crowd had a great time. Performance rating: 4.2/5
3At the Drive-In
Relationship of Command

The crowd was way too mosh-y for my tastes (and probably ATDI's too), but take
that out of the equation, and this was an incredibly kick-ass performance. None of
the band members have lost their touch in the slightest. Tony's drumming rollicked
along with the perfect blend of tight control and chaotic hammering, Jim and Omar
are still amazing guitarists, and Cedric...fucking Cedric. He danced, he jumped, he
shoved his face into the camera, he joked about renaming himself Cedric Lion. If
part of the reason Noctourniquet was so disappointing was because Cedric and
Omar were focusing on this reunion, then fuck it, it was worth it. Performance
rating: 5/5
4Childish Gambino

Gambino's performance was respectable, but not particularly noteworthy. He didn't
do much to distinguish himself from any other hip-hop artist, and he mostly just fell
flat, especially in comparison to the previous night's exemplary performance by
Frank Ocean. That said, "Heartbeat" is a pretty cool song. Performance rating: 3/5
