10.22.11 | Weird seeing Jane Doe ranked as the lowest since it's their highest praised album. |

10.22.11 | Yeah, I don't care much for Pitchfork, but ran across a link to a review while looking for merch. |
sniper
10.22.11 | actually their reviews for all of these albums are terrible. p4k sucks at heavy music |
taxidermist

10.22.11 | Jane Doe review sucked ass.
|
auberginedreams
10.22.11 | yeah, like how do you distinguish between a 7.6 and a 7.7? I always thought that was weird. |
taxidermist
10.22.11 | 'Hmmm, I want to say 8, but it's not quite there. 7.9 will do.' |
Keyblade
10.22.11 | Pitchfork's review for Perdition City was hilarious. That's the first thing that comes to mind when i think Pitchfork. |
Satellite
10.22.11 | * four individual p4k reviewers review four converge albums |
anarchistfish
10.22.11 | another thing, I can't remember what websites do this but, I hate it when they rate albums based on several categories. I.e., the overall score is out of 100% and there are 10 categories with 10 points to give each. you can't fit music into criteria like that. what if an album has nothing in one category but that's because it's pushing boundaries elsewhere and overall it doesn't matter, and it makes it a more original and better album in the end? for example, lyrics. |
Trebor.
10.22.11 | It's weird when they give an album a 9.9
Just give it a fucking 10 you pretentious hipsters |
taxidermist
10.22.11 | IT'S FUCKING .1! |

10.22.11 | "Jane Doe will kick your ass repeatedly until it leaves its long imprint in your flabby buttflesh." |

Satellite
10.22.11 | yeah, but my point is that--like on p4k--it's just one dude's opinion, so attributing that opinion to the site as a whole is sorta fucked.
btw i have that same sweater. looks better on you taxi. |
sniper
10.22.11 | i think the reason they have such "precise" ratings is because the ratings are based on the opinions of the whole staff, not just the individual reviewer. |
taxidermist
10.22.11 | I see where you're coming from, Satty. And thanks for the compliment ;) Awesome sweater. Prob gonna buy a new one since I'm losing a bit of weight and that sweater/jeans look baggier now. |
taxidermist
10.22.11 | @Sniper That makes a lot more sense. |
sniper
10.22.11 | can't find where i heard that though i'm pretty sure its true. they like all agree on a rating, which is weird. |
PistolPete
10.22.11 | yeah...wrong |

10.22.11 | I've never liked Pitchfork. |
EyesWideShut
10.22.11 | its funny when a p4k review for "heavy" album comes out its from the hipster prospective. they also seem to love Trash Talk and OFF!. |
JWT155
10.22.11 | I tend to believe pitchfork gives later albums by popular bands higher ratings to kinda say they fucked up initially in rating their older "classic" albums. |
Trebor.

Rolling Stone are the kings of this
They change their minds on albums once they're considered classic |
sniper
10.22.11 | the thing that irks me about these reviews is that the writers clearly have no sense whatsoever of what context converge fits into. comparing them to metallica and black flag is pretty fucking off-base. |

Acanthus
10.22.11 | They've got an interesting review for 4 style-wise. |
someguest
10.22.11 | The one thing the ratings do show is how consistent the band happens to be, which is true, and it's pretty noteworthy that they noticed it. You guys need to chill. |

10.22.11 | i honestly could not care less what the actual ratings they gave are someguest, def no reason to get butthurt over what are overall positive ratings. the thing is, the reviews are terrible. |
americanohno
10.22.11 | yh the pitchfork guys need to get themselves a "heavy music specialist" like theavclub (which is a similarly indie-heavy site, although much better than p4k) did so they don't look foolish when they review metal/hxc/etc. |
sniper
10.22.11 | exactly. their punk and metal reviews are often embarrassingly short-sighted. only really good one i've seen was for the blood brothers piano island |

10.23.11 | I don't spin it as much as I used to, but I'll keep it as a 5 since I can still go back to it from time to time and enjoy it a fuck

guys:
“Over and over we revisit decisions before they’re on the site,” said Scott Plagenhoef, the editor in chief. Albums are discussed via e-mail and on a staff message board. The review is then assigned to a writer trusted to deliver the group’s opinion. Reviews have individual bylines, but they represent the Pitchfork hive-mind. |

01.10.12 | I actually prefer Axe To Fall and You Fail Me to Jane Doe.
