KjSwantko 12.09.11	we're currently watching the"professionalism" of the Police happen in our country right now. More and more depts are requiring 4 year degrees, but there's still many more around the country that only require a HS education. Plus, your typical academy really only goes over basic criminal and procedural law...it's not that in depth. Yeah these Cops were lame. Within a decade or two it'll likely be mandatory almost everywhere in the country to have a Bachelors in order to be a cop, which is great.

Gilgamahesh 12.10.11	That leads to two ways of looking at the situation. 1) The guy was just being a douche because he read up on some fancy laws just to bother the police, and you choose to take the lesson of trusting the police. Or, 2) The cops were unlawfully detaining his child, and he used superior understanding of the laws to make them uncomfortable about their enterprise, to the point where they ceased their unlawful actions. The lesson there being that anyone should be able to use understanding of the law in order to prevent the police from abusing their power. The cops in the United States have an undeniable history of abusing their power, but it is unfair to assume that in the absence of context. For what it's worth, I take the second lesson IF that was in fact his child the cops were detaining. No father trying to protect his child is a douche. But imagine that if he was a child trafficker or molester? Then there is a real reason for police attention.

And actually it may have been fairly serious, Police officers are aware that our "corrections system" doesn't correct shit and typically turns minor offenders into actual criminals when they go; thus, most Cops do what they can to keep kids out of jail.
