Hyperion1001
09.30.11 | Lots of people seem to hate but i thought it was actually pretty interesting, even disturbing in parts. |
rasputin
09.30.11 | classic |
andcas
09.30.11 | no but I saw the remake and it disgusted me. not in a good horror way. |
Hyperion1001
09.30.11 | i havent seen the remake but this was brutal in its own twisted way. especially for 1978 |
andcas
09.30.11 | would you consider it torture porn because i'm not into that kind of horror. |
BallsToTheWall
09.30.11 | Hey guys, Salo is getting the Criterion treatment, let's have a movie night/slumber party. |
JAV
09.30.11 | It was different for sure, I had to cheer for her murdering everyone.
The new one wasn't as good, the girl was cute though. |
taxidermist
09.30.11 | Saw the remake. There was some brutal shit, but everything else sucked. |
Trebor17
09.30.11 | I heard The Human Centipede 2 is offensively bad |
Hyperion1001
09.30.11 | yeah the first half had pretty explicit/brutal rape scenes, but it was done tastefully i guess you could say. there was a lot of sympathy in the film i thought which is something you dont get too often in horror. |
ShinXetsu
09.30.11 | It's a classic in that it pretty much championed a new genre during that time but personally I thought it sucked. I was going on a disturbing horror movie spree a while back and my favorites were The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Begotten (not particularly horror but disturbingly surreal), and Cannibal Holocaust. Salo and A Serbian Film are alright too I guess.
Everyone with a taste for this kinda stuff should check this list I'm about to link, it has some real good stuff:

Vesper
09.30.11 | I haven't seen it, but I know what it's about, because it was in a book discussing the fear of powerful women (making them into monsters or monstrous) in horror movies. Appropriate, haha. |
Hyperion1001
09.30.11 | I thought the film was really done actually, the sterile camera shots and lack of dialogue was strange but interesting. it just kind of worked. |
Hyperion1001
09.30.11 | Begotten rules btw. |
Mordecai.
09.30.11 | original is good. i like the strawman better. fuck the remake sucks ball hair |
bry11
09.30.11 | The original was good, the remake not so much. Cannibal Holocaust was okay besides are the crazy animal killing |
WhiteWallStargazers
09.30.11 | That's a good Sinergy song |
andcas
09.30.11 | remakes suck out a films uniqueness and replaces it with mindless gore. |
Mordecai.
09.30.11 | i fucking hate serbian film. too brutal for a guy who listens to marvin gaye and cries when he spills his appletini |
Keyblade
09.30.11 | That's a good Sinergy song [2]
First thing that came to mind. |
ckypro3
09.30.11 | i fuckin hate those movies like August Underground and Men Behind the Sun. shits gross |
Skweetis
09.30.11 | It's complete garbage. And how does Salo get Criterion treatment? It's an insult to film. Senseless torture, bad acting and poor direction. |
DeafMetal
09.30.11 | list kills |
BallsToTheWall
09.30.11 | Antichrist got Criterioned. |
Hyperion1001
09.30.11 | Isn't criterion just a distribution company? |
BallsToTheWall
09.30.11 | Yeah, generally they find, clean up and remaster "the worlds greatest films" from around the globe from the 1920's to today. They have turned me onto a lot of fantastic stuff that I would have otherwise never have known, particularly the old films. |
BloodSweatandBeers
09.30.11 | originals good |
Hyperion1001
09.30.11 | Yeah i think some of the old stuff ive gotten from netflix has been criterion.
Then again sometimes they send you the shittiest dvd's ever, the one for Susperia was horrible. |
BallsToTheWall
09.30.11 | Never saw it, but I dont really know when I started getting into their shit, but the Russian original Solaris and Bergman's The Seventh Seal made me a believer. Barnes N Nobles has a great Criterion collection but they are overpriced. 30 to 50% more than Movie Stop. |
Hyperion1001
09.30.11 | Movie stops dont even exist around here.
And you haven't seen Susperia? That really surprises me, its a classic horror. Youd dig it. Takes place in an dance school. |
BallsToTheWall
09.30.11 | I've seen/own quite a few obscure films and yet haven;t seen many classic films. |
WashboardSuds
09.30.11 | ISoYG and Begotten are both great |
foreverendeared
09.30.11 | Criterion is the shit. The only problem I have with them is they are too quick to add new, popular movies into their collection. They released Benjamin Button the day the DVD was released worldwide. |
omnipanzer
09.30.11 | "Antichrist got Criterioned."
Movie is not good imo. |
omnipanzer
09.30.11 | "Salo is getting the Criterion treatment"
Also not that great, also imo. |
omnipanzer
09.30.11 | If you like classic foreign films Balls you must get "King of Hearts". < - ----- not a horror |
BallsToTheWall
09.30.11 | Nothing like being able to brag to your friends oabout owning movies from the 1920's and 30's. Acquiring Criterion movies make you a smug asshole. |
Hyperion1001
09.30.11 | Idk my projector with original reels makes people pretty jealous. |
omnipanzer
09.30.11 | "I Spit On Your Grave"
Saw it when I was a kid but I barely remember it. I remember not hating it. I had an infatuation with Horror movies growing up. I saw Nightmare on Elm Street when I was 8 and I was just hooked. I watched every shit horror movie for like the next decade. |
omnipanzer
09.30.11 | Watched "Student Bodies"?
That's a cult classic. |
BallsToTheWall
09.30.11 | I'm hearing a movie called Dead Girl is a cult classic whatever cult classic may mean. |
omnipanzer
09.30.11 | ^ is that even old enough to be a cult classic? |
BallsToTheWall
09.30.11 | No I dont think so but that's what ive heard of it despite never even seeing a trailer. Boondock Saints has been up there for years though despite a 1999 release. |
omnipanzer
09.30.11 | Gotta watch "Deadly Friend" (1986) staring Kristy Swanson! |
omnipanzer
09.30.11 | ^ The special defects are glorious. |

BallsToTheWall
09.30.11 | Im still rather perturbed that Twilight's Jasper didn't play Varg in Lords of Chaos, im actually serious, that's the only character in the series I have no problem with besides his haircut. Acted pretty good. |
AngelofDeath
09.30.11 | I shit on your grave. |
Vesper
09.30.11 | Wait, you've seen Twilight, Balls?
HAHAHAHAHA. |
BallsToTheWall
09.30.11 | All three. Personally I'm Team Jasper all the way. And maybe Team Emmet, he's so buff and almost as good looking as Alexander Skarsgard. |
