02.07.12 | Turns out I only willingly listen to 7 deathcore acts. Maybe I need me some Whitechapel or something? Are they even good? |
TheArkitecht
02.07.12 | Not really, too bro. Only deathcore-ish band I still listen to is The Eyes of A Traitor. |
XfingTheSullen
02.07.12 | Oh. I might check them out. The bands from my list are sweet too, the first five at least. U know them? |
accompliceofmydeath
02.07.12 | Deadwater Drowning, Day Of Mourning, Dead Man in Reno, Animosity, and Rifles at Recess are all good bree-less deathcore. |

Zorak
02.07.12 | of all those bands Eulogize listed, only check out painted in exile, veil of maya, within the ruins, and beheading of a king. the rest are mediocre to just plain bad. also, check out after the burial, last chance to reason, and substructure |
Eulogize
02.07.12 | I'm sure you've heard all those bands. And what the fuck, Northlane is the best of what I listed. |
Zorak
02.07.12 | i obviously haven't listened to all but I can vouch that nearly all of them are nothing special. especially aegaeon and whitechapel. |
Turtlestlker
02.07.12 | BREESH BREESH BREESH-early Job |
Eulogize
02.07.12 | Aegaeon first album and Whitechapel's ANEOC rule.
Also, Northlane has progressive in it so you'd probably like it since you don't like just straight-up deathcore. |
TechieCore
02.07.12 | Whitechapel blows. Leave them out of this please.
And out of that list, Northlane, Within The Ruins, and Beheading of a King.
If you just want face melting shredding, Within The Ruins. Insane fucking guitars. |

All Shall Perish - The Price Of Existence
|
TechieCore
02.07.12 | It has solos, but I'm talking about intensity wise. WTR is insane.
Plus I've listened to TPoE so many times, I'm burned out on it for a long time. |
AfterTheBreakdown
02.07.12 | check out whitechapels first album. |
Emim
02.07.12 | 2, 5.....and that's it |
sspedding
02.07.12 | Yeah likewise to an extent but it still doesnt take away the fact that TPOE was before its time and even now is one of the definitive deathcore albums.
Within The Ruins is unlistenable at times but for the few tracks they get right, they get it so right. |
TechieCore
02.07.12 | @Emim The Contortionist is sick dude. Really?
@sspedding Yeah too bad they suck now -_- Once Chris Storey left I knew it'd be the end of my days listening to any material they put out. |

02.07.12 | did somone just mention Rifles At Recess, fuck yeaaa. |
Emim
02.07.12 | well the list is best songs, and I don't think it's one of the best songs |
Zorak
02.07.12 | aegaeon's first release is twice as mediocre as their second. and nothing whitechapel has done has been good. but i'll check out northlane. |
Nikkolae
02.07.12 | i liked the original version of 1 a bit more
edit: fuck yea listen to dead man in reno, like prioritize that shit! |

02.07.12 | lol @ 6, kid's clearly never listened to TAS' old stuff. |
XfingTheSullen
02.07.12 | As for Veil of Maya, it's overrated like fuck, TCMC is a boring album really. And I'm not checking out All Shall Perish, because they squeal and that ain't my bag. |

02.11.12 | The fuck?
Whitechapel's latest album is more like The Price of Existence's melodic parts than anything they've ever done, so I don't know what people are smoking here. Even This is Exile had some nice hits (although the majority of it was meh-core) but I feel like people read their track titles for The Somatic Defilement and go EWWWWWWW THAT BAND. OH SO GENERIC EWWWW.
I feel like The Contortionist has stopped using deathcore influences since their first full-length. Their EP was deathcore, blahblahblah, but Exoplanet has no real deathcore sound to it. Breakdowns do not count as deathcore influence, either.
Veil of Maya and Acacia Strain are pretty bro-core, although Veil of Maya's 2012 release is supposed to be more technical and melodic and less bro, so I'm not really sure what to think of them.
Most of the stuff Eulogize suggested was good. Can't really dig Within the Ruins myself but I see why people like them. Beheading of a King is structured like every other deathcore band, they're just more intense (which is why most of the people here are like 'dude that shit just made me jizz out of my facial nose (as opposed to my actual nose)').
All Shall Perish hasn't squealed since their first album, just sayin'.
I rock Animosity every now and then, some Despised Icon, but for deathcore I'm usually caught listening to Until I Breathe's latest album. Lately I've been trying to decide if Conducting From the Grave is well-structured or not, because they use breakdowns now and again but their pace really never changes so I can't tell. Listen to their Revanents album and tell me what you think. |
Zorak
02.11.12 | It isn't just the breakdowns in exoplanet that give it the deathcore sound dude. lol. Plus Whitechapel has never done anything outside of the standard deathcore box. And I have never seen a single "bro" like Veil of Maya. |
Emim
02.11.12 | The Price of Existence has squeals everywhere, dunno what you're smoking. |
Pr0nogo
02.12.12 | I thought they dropped squeals after Hate. Malice. Revenge.?
Whitechapel has done a lot more technically-proficient material than standard deathcore, so you can't say that and be factually correct (unless 'standard deathcore', which is an objective term, means something different to you subjectively, but then you'd be an idiot!). |
AfterTheBreakdown
02.12.12 | that album is after the price of existence. |
Zorak
02.12.12 | how are they not exactly like carnifex or suicide silence or oceano? there's no difference in technicality between those bands at all. |
Funeralopolis
02.12.12 | barley any deathcore uses pig squeals. |

02.12.12 | Whata bout After the Burial? I know everyone is familiar with them, but are they even deathcore? |

they were saying that Awaken the Dreamers is the first album without squeals, and it is the album after TPoE. all of which was to disprove this statement made by you:
"All Shall Perish hasn't squealed since their first album, just sayin'."

The Faceless' Akeldama was good too if you consider that Deathcore. |

02.16.12 | Where the hell do you hear squeals in TPoE anyways?
Also, no. AfterTheBreakdown said "that album is after the price of existence." when I said, "I thought they dropped squeals after Hate. Malice. Revenge.?" Nobody ever said anything about Awaken the Dreamers. |
Pr0nogo
02.16.12 | And yeah The Contortionist isn't really all that amazing. They aren't deathcore with Exoplanet, either, and there's barely any deathcore influence (if there's any at all). |

lol are you fucking serious?
"They aren't deathcore with Exoplanet, either, and there's barely any deathcore influence (if there's any at all)."
You must be deaf and/or retarded. There's breakdowns all over that album and definitely deathcore riffs present. Granted they're excellent and executed well, but they're still there. |
AlexanDerp
02.16.12 | Yes I'm serious, that song is full of overdone solos and endless wankery. It was not really a good choice to put this song as last either. |
Zorak
02.16.12 | It's the most technically proficient, I guess all the "OMGsweepz" aren't necessary but the drums and vocals just outshine any other song imo. |
Pr0nogo
02.18.12 | Calling me deaf or retarded is hardly a valid argument, and citing pieces of music that are used in just about every genre of death metal is not going to hold up at all. Death metal bands use breakdowns. What the hell is a 'deathcore riff'? You mean chugging? I didn't see a lot of that on Exoplanet.
I think the issue with a lot of technical-heavy bands like Born of Osiris, Within the Ruins, and Beneath the Massacre is the "endless wankery" and ridiculous amount of sweeps that eventually call themselves solos even though there's no actual structure to the riffs. They also tend to go to the brutal side of vocals, which is a turn-off to some (I personally don't care, although I've always found Born of Osiris' vocals lacking). |
Shuyin
02.18.12 | 'technical-heavy bands like Born of Osiris' |
Shiduba
02.18.12 | You want good deathcore? Medeia's album Abandon All is just excellent. There are not such a thing as "breakdowns" here as in separate parts in a song, because everything they do is just a result of natural songwriting. Also, them riffs are some of the best I've heard in a long long time. Such a great band, yet so unknown. |

06.05.12 | there are some squeals on tpoe, but they come in naturally on the "ee" sounds and are done exhaled, so I guess I'll live with that, especially since the music really is sweet. |
