| Finally got my driver's license
This past Monday, after nearly three years with a permit and three road tests, I finally managed to clinch my driver's license. Feels weird to have that much more freedom. The first six albums on this list, I picked up at Bull Moose on my first major solo excursion - the last three, I spun on that drive and an earlier breakfast errand. | 1 | | Fair to Midland Fables From a Mayfly: What I Tell You Three Times is True
This has been high on my list of favorite albums since 2010, but for whatever reason, I never got around to acquiring a physical copy. That was finally rectified Tuesday evening. | 2 | | Lambchop Is a Woman
Mid-year frontrunner for the 2017 discovery sweepstakes | 3 | | Cass McCombs Mangy Love
Top 10 of last year for me, got pretty badly overlooked by Sputnik at large | 4 | | The National Trouble Will Find Me
An unexpectedly great album for driving | 5 | | Sufjan Stevens Carrie and Lowell
Lately I've been listening to quite a bit of this... | 6 | | Sun Kil Moon Benji
...and this. Been on a folk/quieter music kick. | 7 | | Thank You Scientist Maps of Non-Existent Places
Only listened to "Suspicious Waveforms" and just on a trip to Dunkin Donuts and back, but if you mention the phrase "morning commuter jam" to me, this is the first tune that pops into my mind. | 8 | | The The Infected
Then you have this, which is quite possibly THE quintessential driving album. | 9 | | The Weakerthans Left and Leaving
Night cruising down a blank highway | |

06.15.17 | congrats dude. were you like 9 y.o when you joined sput? | Dylan620
06.15.17 | lol I was 13 when I joined Sput... was a wee bit late in getting my permit, chose not to apply until after I had completed drivers' ed, which I couldn't afford until I was 18 | Joeman82
06.15.17 | I got mine first try last year and I honestly don't know how I passed the parallel parking portion because I still can't do it, and refuse to do it. | Dylan620
06.16.17 | Parallel parking is what tripped me up when I took my second road test last Monday, nearly backed into a fence and my instructor had to pull the emergency brake. He was going to pass me until then, though, and I came so close that he told me to just brush up on parallel parking and reapply for a road test the following week (i.e. this one) | butcherboy
06.16.17 | Doof is going to love you for 2 and 8.. | robotmagician
06.16.17 | i'm 23 and still don't have my license and don't think i've driven in at least 5 years lol | theBoneyKing
06.16.17 | Grats man.
I fucked up parallel parking on my test but still passed, you must've had a harsh evaluator. Then again they didn't have to use the e brake for me so perhaps it was the right call lol | JWT155
06.16.17 | Parallel parking is a clutch thing to know if you ever plan on having a vehicle in the city, I can do it without thinking now. | Pangea
06.16.17 | Cool congrats | Calc
06.16.17 | congrats man. with great power and all that don't let it go to your head. | Dylan620
06.16.17 | @Boney nah, he wasn't harsh at all. I made a few other minor slip-ups during that road test that he was going to let slide, the e-brake is where he had to draw the line haha | unclereich
06.16.17 | John frusciante doesnt have his license and he's almost 50 |
