|Some Seriously Catchy Metal Riffs|
Whether it be melodic or groovy, here are some of my favourite catchy metal riffs. Pt II coming. Please suggest any riffs you think also deserve a spot.
Well, the whole song actually, but specifically 0:28 (the chorus riff). Simple but alarmingly infectious.
|2||The Agony Scene|
The Darkest Red
Riff at 1:10 , combined with the vocals is some seriously moshworthy stuff.
|3||All Shall Perish|
Day of Justice
0:28 makes me want to jump up and down.
Fairly obscure Russian deathcore band, riff at 1:23 is great, especially when the double-kick mayhem enters.
Solo at 2:53 is beautiful and soothing, whilst 3:43 is pure infectiousness.
Plague of Corruption
0:16 and chorus riff at 0:48, 'nuff said.
|7||At the Throne of Judgement|
0:34 is toe-tapping personified.
|8||August Burns Red|
Solo at 2:38 is awesome, as is the riff at 2:54.
|9||Becoming the Archetype|
Melodic riff at 0:45.
|10||Between the Buried and Me|
Disease, Injury, Madness
The bluesy solo section from 6:36 to 7:39 fits the context of song perfectly, that is a frenzied, random combination of genres.
|11||The Black Dahlia Murder|
On a BDM run of late, riff at 1:15 is sweet, as is the one at 1:40.
|12||Brother Von Doom|
Against a background of strangely enticing gurgles, 0:15 and 0:45 is so addicting.
Nothing Is Forever
Melodic riff during the chorus (1:09) is almost day-dream inducing. Well, not quite, but it's catchy as hell.
|14||Conducting From The Grave|
When Legends Become Dust
Sweeps during the intro + riff at 0:58 = sure-fire winner
|15||The Crimson Armada|
A Filthy Addiction
Ridiculously catchy hook at 1:34.
Chorus riff at 0:50 is so dark and enticing.
This Will Outlive Us
Vocals are fairly sub-par, however the riff at 1:53 livens a fairly average song.
|18||Destroy the Runner|
Despise the clean vocals, but the guitaring in this song is fairly addictive (see 0:22)
|19||Every Bridge Burned|
This band is fairly lacklustre in my opionion, but the solo on Cobra (2:10) slays hard.
Impossible to not bang your head just a little at 0:11. Shame they disbanded.
To the Gallows
0:13 and 1:19 is so good. Underrated Kalmah song in my opinion.
I'm obsessed with this band at the moment. 0:38 to 0:44 is pure greatness.
Stereogram of Convulsion
Yes, these riffs have been done before, but far out, this is catchy (0:14)
0:18 - YES!
Silver Bullets and Burning Crosses
Just epically infectious at 0:25, probably one of the catchiest here on the list.
