Good Lord.. Can't say I can take this seriously at all.
Who's YOUR top guitarist of the past 30 years?
Slash is so overrated its ridiculous
geez, what an atrocious top 3.
i would say:
Frusciante does have some awesome work though. Definitely shouldn't be number one but not as much of a joke as the other 2 on the list IMO.
As much as everyone tends to hate on Bellamy recently, it still needs to be said: the man knows how to play a fuckin' guitar
Honestly, I wouldn' have put Matthew Bellamy in there until I saw them live.
But there's no excuse for the other ones.
All three suck tbh
Bad list in my opinion...Slash only one who would make it in my top 50 but not on my top 3 list...
If we are excluding solo project virtuoso guitarists like Eric Johnson Joe Satriani Steve Vai Yngwie Malmsteen (this four by the way eat for breakfast ALL guitarists who played for ANY band ever - better than Page/Townsend/Blackmore for example) etc then out of alternative/rock/metal bands I would say:
Eddie Van Halen
but its really hard when a list is this short....(Duane Allman? Steve Howe? Jimmy Page? Jeff Beck? Eric Clapton?)...
top guitarist fail
all of those suck
needs moar John Petrucci, Paul Masvidal, Paul Waggoner, uhhhh Dave Mustaine, uhhhh Steve Howe, list goes on.
teh dudez from dragoforce
Alex Kenis/ Jason Truby
1 rocks, slash is overrated
wow, terrible list. Frusciante's the only one that's even excuseable. however, lists like these are pointless unless they're separated by genre. Still though... here's a couple that would come to my mind (looking more at songwriting and overall influence or originality, because I can walk into a music shop and find some dude that plays Eruption flawlessly, point is being technical is overrated), without trying to be biased too much towards my favorites:
I'm sure there are better ones I'm not thinking of though, my list even seems kinda weak.
Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Tony Iommi, Chuck Schuldiner, Dave Mustaine, Marty Friedman, James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Slash (not overrated, he rules), Buckethead, John Petrucci, Jerry Cantrell, John Sykes, Joe Perry, John Frusciante...the list could go on forever with me
no such thing
damn, forgot about Chuck Schuldiner.
however, the list in question only goes back to 1980.
those 4 are excellent
i like frusciante, a lot, but even i wouldn't put him at number 1. hendrix would get my vote, but i dont think he falls in the last 30 years.
neutralthunder youre a moron if you think john frusciante sucks at guitar.
anyways jeff beck is easily one of the best ever
My favorite is David Gilmour
I'm gonna have to say Luke Hoskin and Tim Millar from Protest the Hero.
Did anyone else see that solo slash did on.. oh shit what was it.. some awards show.. anyways, he did it with a rap group.. He must have been high or something, that solo was sloppy as hell.. I think it was the solo from.. november rain or something.. but it was pitiful
You are all dumb. It's Keith Richard, I'll fight you if you disagree.
Tommy Emmanuel, John Petrucci, Yngwie Malmsteen, Eric Clapton, and Jeff Beck would make my short list. I'm sure I could think of a few other remarkable ones.
As much as I love JFrus, he doesn't have any place being on a greatest guitarist list. As generic as it is: Hendrix
i'm ok with these top 3
it's not even discussable how much better paul waggoner is in comparison to luke hoskin
nvm my comment is void because of the last "30" years part of this list that I failed to read
Ow Shit. Same as Vedder.
Surprised Johnny Greenwood hasn't been mention. Didn't Paranoid Android win "best guitar solo ever" or something.
"he doesn't have any place being on a greatest guitarist list."
Frusciante does and I'm not saying that because I'm a fanboy...being 1 is a bit much but he is rightfully acknowledged.
Especially when you hear him solo after Omar. Then it gets hilarious
yeah he does tear shit up there
Frusciante isn't that great of a guitarist, but i dig his style.
I'd say SRV, John Mayer, Clapton, I love Johnny Greenwood, Hendrix.
Bellamy? I love Muse, but Bellamy? As best guitarist? Hell no. I saw him live, and he was great but top three? Hell no. 1 is good, but not the best. 2 is overrated as hell. My top three:
Dave Mustaine (maybe)
