Amazing Album Covers

These are album covers I genuinely love. I tried to avoid some of the more generic answers like, say, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Band or Dark Side of the Moon. Those have been done to death already.
1The Mars Volta
The Bedlam in Goliath

There is probably going to be a lot of Mars Volta on here. Jeff Jordan's work is amazing.
2The Mars Volta
Octahedron

Another Jeff Jordan cover. I dig the sort of jumbled-together feel of the cover and the focus on color contrasts.
3Baroness
Blue Record

I thought that the album cover was strong on it's own, but I became much more impressed with it after I learned that the lead singer actually made the cover.
4Mastodon
Crack The Skye

The sheer level of artistry Mastodon brings to their covers is daunting.
5Kylesa
Static Tensions

Yet another piece by the Baroness singer.
6Baroness
Red Album

You knew full and well this was going to be on here.
7Funkadelic
Maggot Brain

I don't know why, but this image has always stuck with me.
8The Mars Volta
Frances the Mute

One of my personal favorite photo covers.
9Tool
10,000 Days

I'm a sucker for ludicrously detailed cover art.
10Muse
The Resistance

The album itself is very hit-or-miss, but the way the colors seem to dissipate into the background makes the cover seem grand in scale.
11Neutral Milk Hotel
In the Aeroplane Over the Sea

A mini-surrealist masterpiece.
12 Matt Elliot
Howling Songs

Another album cover that's strangely captivating.
13Thom Yorke
The Eraser

I love how the lines seem to converge towards the figure
14Bjork
Medulla

See 12.
15Wolfmother
Wolfmother

They're a very terrible band, but I've got to give them a little cred for using Frank Frazetta for one of their covers.
16 Gallows
In The Belly of a Shark

I can't vouch for the quality of their music, but the cover is really good.
17Opeth
Watershed

I find the stark contrast very eyecatching.
18Omar Rodriguez-Lopez
Xenophanes

This is a really well-done example of collage in album art.
19Mastodon
Leviathan

The use of color in this cover is almost painterly.
20 Godspeed You! Black Emperor
F# A# ?

This album cover perfectly syncs up with the barren, apocalyptic feel of the actual content.
