10 songs I've been in love with as of late |
1 | Crebain Legion
Starting out as a typical black metal track (tremolo picked chords, blast beats, etc...) the song later goes into incorporate some cool groove metal riffs and finishes with a great black metal guitar riff. |
2 | Sael Being Judas
Sael is a really good French black metal band who likes to throw in a lot of small avant garde twists into their music. This track ranges from straight up black metal to a more technical brand sprinkled with some really nice and tasteful symphonic elements. Oh and what's that? YES, A BLACK METAL GUITAR SOLO. |
3 | Acherontas Alfa: Genesis
Although Acherontas is a black metal band, people should really take notice of how awesome their intro/interlude tracks are. "Alfa: Genesis" is 3 minutes of intense, melancholic classical orchestration. |
4 | Arcana Coelestia Duskfall
Very slow, atmospheric funeral doom. The vocals are probably my favorite part as they range from deep gutturals to really awesome cleans. |
5 | Exalted We Are The Grim Throng
Awesome crust punk influenced black metal from Chicago. Catchy melodies throughout along with some d-beat drumming and black metal vocals. |
6 | Orrery V
Orrery is a solely instrumental black metal band from Australia. "V" 's repeating nature really helps one appreciate how some times simple playing can go a long way if it's done right. |
7 | Pensees Nocturnes Coups De Bleus
Pensees Nocturnes is another French black metal band who manages to pull off an almost theatrical type of atmosphere with it ever become cheesy. "Coups De Bleus" (as much as it's name implies) begins with some awesomely chill bluesy music, from a twangy-guitar solos to old-time piano tunes. Eventually this leads into more of a black metal style which completely owns. |
8 | Profanatica Black Cum
Although over-all I wasn't a crazy huge fan of Profanatica's newest LP, "Black Cum" is an excellent piece of over the top, blasphemous black metal. Also the bass in this is awesome. |
9 | Godswill Cold Outside
Cool funeral doom track with excellent clean vocals and great atmosphere. The production seems to embody the "buzzier" side of black metal, but once you get over that the song is quite good. |
10 | Black Swan Pt. 1
Fucking amazing ambient. It's really hard to describe the song of this song as it contains so much from clean picked guitar to a weird almost homely styled synth line. Really great stuff. |
