Weird Things In Music No. 26

So a guy did a review of the devildriver album "beast" and on the album they cover the 16 horsepower song "black soul choir" and despite devildriver being a metal band and 16 hp a christian alt-country band the cover really works well. and well this got me listening to another great 16hp song "cinder alley" on youtube in the comments section it is mentioned that Manes a black metal band had covered the song. Interested I listened to the song and found that fucking Marduk covered "deerskin doll." Here's a really good article that discusses the rather weird choice (well at least superficially it actually makes a lot of sense seeing as 16hp/woven hand have a pretty sizable following in europe and their music borrows a lot from european/gypsy folk music)

View that's manes cover of cinder alley. They do it justice.
Fuck Me Jesus

If one were to try and get into Marduk would this be an okay place to start.
To the Nameless Dead

The youtube commenter also mentioned that Primordial references "Black Soul Choir" on their song "Failures Burden"

Peaceful Death and Pretty Flowers

Kickass crossover thrash you guys have gotta check out: the vocals are a lil' weak but everything else about them is near perfect.
