Weepingbanana's 2010
Still a lot of stuff I haven't heard from this year. This is my top 30. Sorry if list is too Sputnik. |
| 30 | | Dark Time Sunshine Vessel |
| 29 | | Gorillaz Plastic Beach |
| 28 | | Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra Kollaps Tradixionals |
| 27 | | Surfer Blood Astro Coast |
| 26 | | Dangers Messy, Isn't It? |
| 25 | | The Tallest Man On Earth Sometimes The Blues Is Just A Passing Bird |
| 24 | | The Morning Benders Big Echo |
| 23 | | Big Boi Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty |
| 22 | | The Dillinger Escape Plan Option Paralysis |
| 21 | | Rosetta A Determinism of Morality |
| 20 | | Kanye West My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy |
| 19 | | Electric Wizard Black Masses |
| 18 | | Sufjan Stevens The Age Of Adz |
| 17 | | Janelle Monae The ArchAndroid (Suites II and III of IV) |
| 16 | | Tobacco Maniac Meat |
| 15 | | Women Public Strain
So distant and cold. Album is going to do me wonders in the upcoming winter months. |
| 14 | | Joanna Newsom Have One On Me
Baby Birch is in the top 3 songs of the year. |
| 13 | | Tera Melos Patagonian Rats
This album is all over the place but still somehow remains something very cathcy that you can grab onto. |
| 12 | | Broken Social Scene Forgiveness Rock Record
Solid album. Exactly what you'd expect from Broken Social Scene, which is of course a good thing. |
| 11 | | Flying Lotus Cosmogramma
Album is nuts. Mind will be fucked. Hard. |
| 10 | | Fang Island Fang Island
Daughters on a good trip.
PS WOAHHHHHH OHHHHHHHH OHHHHHHH |
| 9 | | Foxy Shazam Foxy Shazam
Most fun album of the year if it weren't for Daughers and Fang Island. Soulful, poppy, piano-rock goodness. Catchy as fuck. |
| 8 | | Deftones Diamond Eyes
Sexy album that grooves hard. |
| 7 | | Daughters Daughters
Fang Island on a bad trip. |
| 6 | | Future Islands In Evening Air
This is the most overlooked album of 2010. Instruments chug along, an abrasive, Tom Waits-esque, voice unleashes its heart at you, tears are wept. |
| 5 | | The Books The Way Out
Greatly overlooked album. The Way Out is a spastic work of art that maintains absurd amount of sophistication while still being so innocently childish. This album is a giggle fest. This album is mind opening. This album is the shit. |
| 4 | | Deerhunter Halcyon Digest
While not as cohesive as Microcastle, Halcyon Digest offers a more accessible and easier-to-listen-to outing while still maintaing that Bradford Cox factor; fuzz, layers and a delicate voice that barely pierces the thick instrumentals. |
| 3 | | The Tallest Man On Earth The Wild Hunt
By far the most intimate album of the year. Kristian Mattison's voice has such an attention grabbing quality that's hard to ignore. Through intricate guitar work and abrasive vocals, the listener has no choice but to hold onto this man, his guitar and his narratives that he'll surely be humming later in the day. |
| 2 | | The National High Violet
High Violet is an album so dark yet so free so as to not get weighed down by itself. While this album holds a pretty dark atmosphere there are moments of punctuated joy that hit the listener like a ton of bricks. Put this on at 2 AM when you're wide awake and need something to attach to. |
| 1 | | Titus Andronicus The Monitor
This album is perfectly celebrates the imperfect. For every moment of 'UGH' you've had in your life, this album knows what's up. Every lyric on this album shouts "DON'T WORRY, I UNDERSTAND YOUR PAIN". Listen to this, learn the lyrics, have goose pimples for 60 straight minutes. |
