Favourite Guitar Tones
got a couple of days off, making to many lists :/
His clean tone is absolute pure heaven.
|2||Lamb of God|
Not a fan of the album, or the band really but the rawness of the tone on this i really like, instead of scooping they boosted the fuck out of the mids and it sounds great.
So many different tones on this album that i love, the whole production is just fantastic, subterranian homesick alien especially.
Thank Christ for The Bomb
Tone wise, similar to hendrix only better. One of the most tragically underrated bands/guitarists/lyricists of all time.
But the guitar tone is beautiful, half broken overdrive with an old school strat and some of the most emotive playing makes the tone superb.
|5|| ||Frank Zappa|
Tonally, maybe an aquired taste. Personally the barking half on wah pedal distortion is wonderful to me, yet he covered so many tones i wouldnt really know where to start. This album imo demonstrates his best guitar tones.
this is not all time, just some that i adore.
Yes, 1 has an amazing clean. Probably one of the best I've heard.
And 2 is awesome as well, goes perfect with that kind of playing.
Early REM: rickenbacker jangle
and Husker Du's fuzzy trebly stuff sounds awesome
and Slint i guess
ion dissonance, on their first two albums, has the most brutal tone i've ever heard. so yeah, i really like that. i think as cities burn on come now, sleep has one of my favorite tones ever.
ah shit i forgot meshuggah, thats a brutal tone.
Ulf Wakenius - Notes From the Heart
some jazz guitar and his tone is delicious.
Easily recognizeable tones: Pink Floyd, U2, hell, even Def Leppard.
The first time a guitar tone stuck out to me was on Motion City Soundtrack's "Commit This To Memory". Its like it wasn't distorted, but it was still driven pretty hard. Hard to describe...
^yeah i feel ya on that. their synth tone is even more signature.
The start of Illuminate... by Yndi Halda - oh my god. That's tone.
I haven't heard that Frank Zappa one. Way you describe it it's "fuzzy" like shoegaze.
I really really like the guitar tone in Trespassers William's Different Stars.
death symbolic omfg
Dismember - like an ever flowing stream
I second Symbolic
