After 4 1/2 years on Sputnik, I've reached 10k comments. Here are the top 5 albums I've discovered through Sputnik and the top 5 noteworthy users who have helped expand my musical tastes. Cheers brothers, I'm drinking a beer toasting you.
1The National

I had never heard the National before becoming a member of the community,
and as I grew out of my early twenties, finding this band was a crucial
element to my musical progression. Metal/Punk/Hardcore had dominated my
musical spectrum before discovering this band and allowed my somewhat
mellowed self to get into bands as intelligent, soft spoken and well crafted
as the National. Cheers to BigHans, a bro for life and overall good dude.

Kvelertak is one of my most played albums of the last 3 years. Fast paced,
furious and most of all fun, an album I've partied hard to and enjoyed
thoroughly driving around. I'm going to one day hopefully be sitting in
Germany drinking a stein of delicious beer with a 2 foot long beard jamming
these guys. Inveigh didn't introduce me to the album but he's a great user
and he riffs hard m/. Cheers mate.
3Misery Signals

Looking back I can't believe I hadn't this in 2008 when I was in my
metalcore prime, but thanks to Curse I have many hundreds of times. A
classic 5 and one of my favourite metal albums ever. Cheers man, and
congrats on your promotion.
Wavering Radiant

Another band I was late to the hype train hearing. The band's discog is
consistently awesome so it was hard to pick one album but this one hits all
the right spots every time. Shuyin has earned a spot here, he's a true metal
bro. Cheers!
Night Is The New Day

Easily my favourite album to jam when I'm feeling melancholy. The
atmosphere on every song is perfect, a stone cold 5 and one I'll jam for
many years to come. Gmork, my Daylight Dies bro. Quiet dude, intelligent
and has fantastic taste in music. He's single ladies, he won't be for long
though. Cheers mate.
