|Newer Shoegaze/related Bands|
Little known and up and coming shoegaze and related genre bands.
|1||Planning for Burial|
I'm going to go ahead and get the bigger artists out of the way early on. PFB is largely associated with many of these bands and is a considerable influence on them with his mix of sludge, shoegaze, slowcore, and ambient.
Whirr is perhaps the best known of the newer wave of shoegaze bands, putting their own twist on the MBV/Slowdive sound.
Guilty of Everything
They've gotten huge after signing to Relapse and putting out their first LP earlier this year. Punk vibes all around.
Now we get to the smaller bands. Airs, from San Francisco, mixes shoegaze with post-punk, black metal, and other sounds.
From North Carolina, the band is clearly named after a particular Have a Nice Life track.
Dark shoegaze from Michigan.
From Los Angeles. Expect poppy guitar melodies under a fog of doom.
San Francisco. Kristina was the latest female vocalist of Whirr and now works as Miserable and King Woman.
I'll Build a Well
Atlanta: Shameful self-promotion. My band, which does some kind of a mix of shoegaze, slowcore, and other sounds.
New Orleans. Sludgy slowcore. Think an insanely heavy Codeine or Duster.
Innermost Shrine, Heavily Gilded
San Francisco. Brilliant drone/ambient solo project that sometimes features Grouper-like tracks.
Night Falls and the Day Will Never Come
Auburn, Alabama. Another superb drone/ambient project, sometimes reminiscent of Windy & Carl.
Hearu Shi no Proud Father
New Orleans. Again, drone ambient and one of the best (if not the best) in recent years. Shoegaze, noise, etc. sounds.
Atlanta. More upbeat than the other artists, with catchy pop elements showing clearly.
|15||The Stargazer Lilies|
We Are the Dreamers
Pennsylvania. Fuzz. Reverb. Awesome.
Smile Until It Hurts
Birmingham. What they have online now is more like dreamy indie-pop but their newer songs (not yet online) are definitely more noisy and shoegaze influenced.
