1000 Ratings: Jesusv4's 10 Fave Albums
Hit 1000 ratings the other day. Here's my favorite 10 albums. I need new music too, so rec if you can, but keep in mind that I already own every album from every band on this list. |
10 | | Pink Floyd Obscured By Clouds
The missing link between the Floyd that fumbled around the dark after Syd's departure, and the Floyd who completely realized themselves on Dark Side. As a huge fan of all eras of Floyd, this one holds a special place in my heart, and makes the list in the name of all Floyd albums. |

9 | | Sonic Youth Washing Machine
Another beautiful album. It's a noisterpiece. SY runners-up for me is A Thousand Leaves, but this wins out for the title track and "Skip Tracer", not to mention that it's just rounded out better. |

8 | | Miles Davis In A Silent Way
Listen. Focus on the three keyboards. I can't really describe this album. It's beautiful. It's bliss. |

7 | | Bob Dylan Time Out of Mind
Sooooo spooky. Dylan revived his career and his legacy with this album. I've talked about this album too much in the past, so if you're interested, just check out my review under my old name dudeinthepassinglane for more. |

6 | | Ministry Animositisomina
Best industrial album ever. Bar none, save for perhaps NIN's The Downward Spiral (of course, I obviously prefer this). Jourgenson went all the way here to make up for his lack of success in the 90s, and sadly, it went virtually unnoticed. |

5 | | The Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
What a journey of an album! The standard for all double albums to come after it, and the only one I've ever heard that even comes close to The White Album. It's rare that a great band makes an album of greatness greater than their own, but the Pumpkins achieved it here. Albums like this one are rare and few. |

4 | | Roger Waters Amused to Death
Waters outdid his compatriots here. Similar to but far better than The Wall. I love Pink Floyd's music more generally, but nothing comes close to being the complete cohesive album this is. And if you don't agree, you gotta admit, this at least kicks th living shit out of The Division Bell and A Momentary Lapse of Reason, the Gilmour-fronted albums that even so are still not bad. |

3 | | The Velvet Underground White Light/White Heat
Buy the Velvet Underground and Nico first. If you like it, proceed here. After the Beatles, IMO The Velvet Underground is the most important band ever. |

2 | | Bob Dylan Bringing It All Back Home
Changed my life. I never thought about lyrics the same way again. I've got about 25 other Dylan albums now. This was like the fifth I'd heard. |

1 | | Mannequin Planet Humannequin
What can I say? This is my band's first album (I'm the male vocals), of course it's my favorite. Check out some tracks on myspace.com/themannequinplanet We'll have it for either sale or free download as soon as we finish constructing our website. |
