| First Review?
I'm contemplating a first review, what would you guys like to see? | | 1 | | Bulb Retrospective
One of my favorite artists of all time; a guitarist, songwriter and drummer (also in Periphery) who's the
father of djent, unsung hero of bands like Animals as Leaders, and the heir to SikTh's awesomeness.
Only
problem is he hasn't technically released a CD, just a bunch of tracks/demos for free on Soundclick, so
I'd
have to pull a Saetia and make a discography CD or something :/ (5/5) | | 2 | | Chimp Spanner At The Dream's Edge
A guy who could be Bulb's synth-obsessed younger brother. Great CD, amazingly well produced. (4.5/5) | | 3 | | Sufjan Stevens The BQE
Sufjan's orchestral ode to the Bronx-Queens Expressway is an interesting listen and shows off the
quirky
songwriter's strengths and unique weirdness (/awesomeness). Only problem is I don't know as much
about modern contemporary classical as I should to write a review about this. (4.5/5) | | 4 | | Weaver At The Loom I Was Searching And I Found
Awesome local band from Minneapolis takes everything that works on Transatlantacism and adds an
ethereal post-rockish side to it. A beautifully crafted debut that uses delicate songwriting, a cool
concept,
and stellar lyrics to create one of the most emotional albums that I have in my discography. (a very high

Rec me something! Anything with no review/ an underwhelming review that you'd like to see reviewed. | |

01.14.10 | My first was Alice Cooper. | FeralMemories
01.14.10 | Bulb is a god, but he's not the father of Djent, that belongs to Frederick Thordendal I believe. | BrahTheSunGod
01.14.10 | Yea, I suppose that Meshuggah really did start it so to speak; I guess what I was trying to say is that Bulb was the one who recently more or less popularized 'djent-core' (ughwhy did i even call it that). Umm, the modern wave of übertechnical, self-produced bands who use that specific guitar tone and those techniques, also use Drumkit From Hell in their production, etc. Just go on Soundclick, there are like 8927392130248 of them now. Or any 7-string forum :/ | tombits
01.14.10 | Do the BQE, I've been thinking about picking that up. | BrahTheSunGod
01.14.10 | Get it, it's worth it. *educates self about contemporary Classical | bloc

04.28.10 | Awesome! Yea, I'll definitely get working on that. I'm wading through my finals right now, than I'll be in greece and cyprus and computerless til the 14th of June unfortunately, but I'll get it done then.
Thanks guys! | boon0404
05.09.10 | Bulb. Do it. | BrahTheSunGod
05.09.10 | Having Periphery finally release their s/t kinda killed that idea for me... I might still do it eventually but it'd make a difficult review even weirder | BrahTheSunGod
07.25.10 | Bumping this, I finally wrote a review for Weaver at the Loom. Advice is always welcome! |
